OPEN INVITATION TO FISH THE VAAL.
« on: March 13, 2011, 04:37:39 PM »
First and Foremost. I AM NOT AN EXPERT F/F NOR A VAAL GURU.  :sadd :sadd

But I'm working on it, and am consequently on the river one day every weekend of the year ( well almost  :sadd ).

This is an open invite to all who wish to have some fun to join me on the Vaal.

I normally fish Sunday mornings, but can be flexible ito Saterdays.

Just drop me a pm. By the way, tackle is no problem, I have enough spare rigs for 3 people. w;k
If we caught fish on every trip, it would be called " Catching". We don't, and that's why it's called "Fishing".

Andrew, what a question. :shk :shk It's time you put that Heron through the rapids and caught some fish. :crzy. Is it still Sunday, and if so WHERE"S RORY, NICO & BIG G ???.

I'm starting to get worried about Adrian though, after all he's not even married yet and having to cancel fishing time. :unhap :unhap :nobs:

Holy Sh**, it's going to snow, cyclones, and a cold front all in one day.

It should be fun watching Tye wade though. :hehe: :hehe: :hyst: :hyst:

Andrew and I will be fishing GVP on Sunday. We both have space for 1 each in the boats, otherwise we just do a relay ( as has been done before.) :sml: If Adrian joins then there will be 3 boats.
We use the boats to go upriver to "poach" the old Fish Eagle waters, as well as the bottom rapids of Oosthuizens.

Guys a word of warning, GVP must be the second hardest wading venue on the Vaal, that I have ever fished. Trackshoes = very sore feet and shins.  :unhap :unhap We are wading on, over around and off big boulders here. A wading stick is also a must. With the poor vis you can't see what's in front of you. You feel it like a blind man. :shk :shk

But hey, the fishing is GREAT and well woth it. :happ: :happ:

Thanks for the Open Invitation Oom Herman. I am going to try my best to make it to GVP on Sunday. I would love you to teach me how to catch those yellow things properly!
I will probably know by tomorrow what Swambo has installed for the week-end. Otherwise, it is all systems go and I am at the mercy of the great gray master.

Guys, Andrew may not be able to make it to GVP on Sunday. :sadd

How about moving the venue to Erina Spa which has much easier wading, but almost as good fishing????

OK, so lets move the venue to Erina.???????? w;k :clwn

Flies that traditionally work here are : Rory's red humpy control fly, San Juaan worm # 14 - 18, Flashback PTN's, Olive caddis pupae ( V rib caddis, with a dark brown thorax.)
