To lead or not to lead...
« on: August 18, 2020, 04:19:33 PM »
Hello, i would like to ask if is necessary to have a leader on braid when throwing various lures for Tigerfish and Nembwe. I have only been using braid for a couple years and am still deciding if i like it or not honestly. Fishing area is all Zambezi and Kariba. Please forgive me if this has been covered,  i could not find anything.

Some ppl advise against using braid for tigers apparently its because there's no stretch,so when the tiger hits the bait hard you end up losing the fish... So if you insist on using braid, then yes use a mono or flouro leader between your main line and steel trace... It's usually better to use a leader with braid anyway because stands out in the water like a sore thumb so it's advisable to use a flouro or at least mono leader with you braid especially when targeting your serrochromis species who tend to be ultra cautious when something seems off

:welc: Zimfish.

In this thread there are a few quality posts from guys who are pro's at catching Tigers... check it out. General consensus, it seems, that braid is best, with a mono leader to your steel?
