WANTED: Shimano Trevala MH
« on: June 26, 2020, 05:13:53 AM »
Hi gents

I'm looking for a 7ft MH Trevala for grinder, looking to pair it with a Gosa 8000.
Please contact me on 0832 triple zero 364.

Also, what rod would you guys suggest for jigging with a Daiwa BG8000?

TIA.

:shk  Are you sure you want to put a 8k on the 7' MH???... It's a very light rod, more suited to a 5k.
Forgive me Father for I have spinned... It's been three weeks since my last cob session.

Well back to the drawing board, any suggestions for a rod for the Gosa 8k?

Is it for jigging or spinning/dropshotting/plugging etc?

My apologies... I had a bit of a brainfart when I read your post this morning.

I was thinking that my 7' was a MH but it's actually a ML. I don't know what the MH feels like, but my ML is "light"... A beautiful rod, but very light. I see Ganis has the MH listed for R1660... By the specs, it would seem like it's possibly well matched to your 8k.

Ok I think a bit of background would help, Im immigrating to Indonesia next year (married to an Indonesian).
Im in contact with the local fishermen there after I made friends during my visit in 2018. Tragically I did not get time to fish, yeah I know...but my wife has like 20 million cousins to visit.

Anyway, they are into jigging and deep dropping baits. Not much spinning, possibly due to lack of suitable equipment being affordable and widely available. I hope to submit some fishing reports once Im settled in, in order to give a clearer description of the local species.
Im on a budget as immigrating is not cheap so Im using what I have and buying used tackle if I can afford it.

So basically trying to get the job done with the following:
Reels
Saragosa F 8k
Daiwa BG 8k
Daiwa SL50 SH

Rods
Shimano Exage 80 HSA
Kingfisher Swordman
Daiwa Saltiga 40lb trolling stick

Would appreciate some help and advice. Thanks gents.

Ok cool... An exciting future for you.

I'd be inclined to at least have a topwater stick (but I'm biased... I far prefer fishing up top), but maybe your approach should include something along the lines of "I've found an xyz stick for an affordable price, how would that pair with a Gossa 8K?" or else "does anyone have anything they want to get rid of that I can pair with a Gossa 8K for bottom fishing?.... Along those sort of lines. There's a lot of guys on the forum with waaaay too much tackle... I include myself here  w;k

I get the impression there's not many 7' MH Trevalas out there just by the "no stock" labels on the tackle sites. I've also come across very few forum threads that mention them. Plenty 6'6 MHs though.
Forgive me Father for I have spinned... It's been three weeks since my last cob session.

Echo7, I see you're based in Durban so give Basil Manning a call. You won't find this on their website but the last time I went in the sales guy said he had one or two of the Trevalas still in stock. These are amazing rods and you won't go wrong with them. Not sure what the new model is like but guys I know who put their tackle to the test still have them.
