Hi guys,
Here's a quick report from the past weekend.
We went to witsand with the mission of catching a galjoen (we were unsuccessful).
On Friday afternoon we went straight to the blokke with some horrible smelling redbait. It was a calm evening with a flat sea, but we were full of confidence. The absolutely no action. On Saturday morning the sea was once again very flat with no working water, so we went out on the boat and drifted over the reef in the bay. We caught lots of juvenile Roman, a santer and plenty of streepies ... lots of fun for all involved even though there was nothing big enough to right home about. We then tried the river on Saturday afternoon to see if there were any steenbras or grunter around. We got a couple stumpies, but apart from that the river was dead. On Sunday morning the swell was up and the sea had a kick to it with lots of working white water. We tried the tidal pool this time, but once again didn't even get a proper bite in our search for a gallie. We did see a belman come out closer to the swimming beach, but that was it.
Always good to get away, but the search for my first gallie or even first cracker continues.
