Nice test  :tkx: would of been great to through some cheaper Shimano range rods in the mix there like the Vengeance.

So now who has a Sierra and Amia, they can do such a test with??  w;k

If there is a test like that done in the pta/jhb area and I'm in town I'll bring my survey equipment and will measure the distances for the test (to with in 1mm  :crzy).

Fuji Microwave guides.....  Uhmmmm nope, not Fuji - they would know better...

Result remains the same anyhow...  I also think the Microwave Guide System is not too well suited to the high line speeds concomitant with long casts in shoregame spinning.  You can hear that first guide isn't happy when line comes peeling off at that rate (compared to Fuji KR, which is almost silent).  It sometimes feels as if the lure is pulling the rod ever so slightly.  Like when you are on an edge and it feels like someone is pushing you.  Me thinks those Microwaves belong on a lekka bass rod.

But then again it would be awesome to have both of these one the same blank and test it? Anyone?

The distance results aren't that surprising.  I would also market my rods being capable of casting 150m*.

This test is long overdue Brad given all the hype around long distance casting of spinning rods. Since buying my 10' Aerocast from you many years ago I've come close to offloading it but each time I've tried something else I've come to appreciate it even more. I'll be watching this space closely to see the results of some of the popular outfits currently doing the rounds - when you get around to doing this. it's ironic that I've been looking at 11' rods today and decided to test these out first before making a decision.

Thank you for the effort - I can assure there will be a lot of interest in this post. :+ cred:

Vandit,
Your comments on the Microwaves are, in my opinion, spot on.
While there is nothing wrong with the guides, I think they are being used outside of their comfort zone - 6'-8' bass and estuary rods.
The 9-11' sticks as used for shore game spinning generate incredible line speed and the fact that the Microwave stripper is effectively a size 7 ring means they over-choke the line.
My KR setups do improve line flow and do throw further than either Microwave, New Guide Concept or cone of Flight layouts
Also if set up correctly throwing full-length leaders through a KR set up is a doddle.

Hope my calculation correct  ?

25 pound  Gosen  /  Sustain 5000  /  47g  .      I think  its called a  Chase
64 years , surely you 40 year olds will be getting 120+

Ahhhh, but you are more experienced...
And probably have better technique, that is engrained into muscle memory.

Also, length of line out when reeled tight to the lure or just that's length of line?

90m is a good throw.

As you know, my Assassin Sierra will be yours (for a while!) when my microwave guides have reached the end of their life-span so that you can do your KR "magic" on my baby! One think that I can say is that these microwave guides lasts damn long, considering the hours I put into spinning. But the time will come..... :hnthnt:

i had a 11 foot airocast, which my international flavor of a brother with a mighty cast of his monster stickbait removed the top 10cm of my poor rod resting in the gunnel. Maybe i'm better off now, the spacing does look a little off from the top eye to the next one down.
