Day venues
« on: June 09, 2015, 04:53:43 PM »
Hi Guys,
I will be spending a few days in Joburg from the 14th - 28th of June and would like to wet a line, it has been too long.
I was a regular at Jurassic Park in Dullies years ago and looking for something similar or some yellow's venues.
Unfortunately , I am not in a position to pay for a guide as I have done in the past.

Please let me know if you can offer any suggestions for the following :
  • A venue that accommodates day visitors
  • Not overly busy
  • Quality fishing rather than quantity.
  • Trout /  Yellows / Bass  in any combination :)
  • Safe
  • Accessible, no 4x4 required for access.
  • Within approx 2hrs of Joburg
Any feedback or ideas appreciated.

Thanks
eug

Hello Daar

Try this place www.emhlangeni.co.za I have been there a few times
With the season it is only for trout as the bass are off the bite

Hi

You can also try Brookwood trout farm (+27 11 957 0126) - they have a couple of dams including bass or Kloofzicht. With it being a bit on the colder side you might have to work a bit for bass.

Map of Brookwood Estate Trout Farm

Attached is a map of the area, Kloofzicht is on the t - junction leading to Brookwood.

What about Leeuwkloof contact Big Van on UA
The worst day fishing is better than the best day at office

Another venue to consider is Oxbow Country Estate arguably Gauteng’s premier trout venue . One needs to book as they limit their day visitors and fishing days . Have a look at  http://www.oxbowestate.co.za/fly_fishing.html

@Lichia amia, thanks. I have been meaning to visit but thought it was a members only establishment.

They do day visitors but it is strictly controlled .

Best would be to take the Mrs/family and spend a night or two there . Top class accommodation , brilliant catering and 9 dams to fish (  drinks golf cart that you can have a cold one delivered to the waters edges  w;k  )

sounds brilliant. As I get older the idea of missioning for a cold one is less and less appetising.
Will drop them a mail now.
