Exceler rod with broken eye??
« on: December 23, 2014, 03:41:13 PM »
HI there, I just broke the 5th eye from the top of my 9.6ft rod. I've cleaned up the remaining resin etc. My question is, can I still fish or is it going to put to much pressure to that area????
about to go on a trip......

Done this a few times over my career...  duh

Although the eye certainly beefs up the blank slightly, it shouldn't make such a difference as to put too much pressure on it. Worst that's gonna happen is you have a few windknots because of the missing eye. But it wouldn't stop me fishing...

Common issue with Excelers. No worries, just fish it. Tail, longies, cape sailies, not a problem.
