« on: August 13, 2014, 06:57:09 PM »
Howzit guys
Anybody do a beginners 101 on fly fishing? Like rods, reels, flies, lines, retrieval etc.
I am contemplating getting a cheap cheap setup to give it a shot.

What are you going to target?

Something along the lines of  blacktail, mullet, karanteen and other juveniles.
There are 101s for most facets but have not come across one for fly fishing. Gareth, gavin....

Me too.I see Gani's are advertising a 5/6 wt stealth rise combo with casette reel and 2 types of line 'tippets etc. for R1150.  I,m looking to target trout/yellows locally.

Shivaan, I will put something together for you today...

If you are looking at targeting smallish sea fish look at getting a 6 weight rod or a 5/6 weight. Sinking or intermediate line is essential, dont bother with floating line.

You can get a cheap combo from any angling shop, if you just looking to try it out, just get a starter combo, you can pick them up for anywhere between 350 and 600. Dont need anything special, just in case you dont like it.

Will work on something that will cover everything about saltwater fly fishing for you bru, will let you know once it is done.
