Lowveld Trout
« on: August 12, 2014, 08:58:03 AM »
Every now and then opportunities come around and this past weekend was one of those rare opportunities. My great mate Craig Brehany is a partner in Rhino Energy, a alternative energy solution company and some maintenance work was required at the home of one of his customers.

We left Centurion on Saturday morning at 6 am  to the Lowveld and arrived at the homestead by 10 am. The battery bank was replaced and all technical work completed by 2 pm,  the system was working and we could really get down to some relaxing.

Craig and I did a hike down the the second weir from the home and here i caught a trout of 1kg on a Pancorra.

We slowly worked our way back to the house and Craig caught a beauty of 1,2kg on ablack woolly bugger.

We stopped fishing when bad light stopped "play" We went up to the house made a braai and had a few refreshment before retiring for the evening.

When you are on the river, ocean or in the woods, you are the closest to the truth you’ll ever get.

The Sunday morning after a coffee and rusk we hit the streams again. I caught three more fish for the day. Craig also caught a second trout. This fishy decided to wrap it up in the tippet and we were scared it would drown. We released the fish before a photo could be taken.

Unfortunately we had to pack up and leave for the big smog! To my mate Craig, thank you for the opportunity and a brilliant relaxing awesome fishing weekend.

I do believe we have to check on the system soon......
