Very nice demo on eddie currentEddy Current Demo.
Extracted from Wikepedia (Developed in the 1970s and '80s, rare-earth magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnets made, producing significantly stronger magnetic fields than other types such as ferrite or alnico magnets. The magnetic field typically produced by rare-earth magnets can be in excess of 1.4 teslas, whereas ferrite or ceramic magnets typically exhibit fields of 0.5 to 1 tesla. ) Extracted from my pea brain .. so it looks like rare earth magnets would create a stronger magnetic field than the normal magnets .... very cool indeed so by placing more magnets in the side plate at the correct distance from the spool will create a bigger force or more effect on the spool ... bye bye overwinds ... , i just dont wont to be there when that magnet comes unstuck and decides to run around in the side plate with the spool... , thats if they are epoxied in place and the epoxy lets go ... eina pain ...
WOW. Never expected guys to get this excited.Must say this mod has let me have the cinfidence to really get behind my casts. The real advantage I believe is for those using braid on conventionals. I modified a saltist 35 for braid an it worked...stopped the overruns and resulting jams.
