Does the Wilderness file I posted show you the names of spots,where it is and what can be targetted at each spot?Mine shows that on the lefthandside when on Google earth...

a good book to look out for if interrested is called "Hengelpret van Witsand tot Plet.."by Nickie Louwrens,he speaks of different spots,directions to get there and target species...

no,I haven't sorry,but have been there,I think that 7?kg(think 74kg)kob that Shawn Mey caught a while ago was caught near there(on Cola beach,I think between Gericke's and Swartvleiriver mouth)on octopus leg.I see on my Google earth it's called Lions head...

same place I think...

Lions head is the top part of Gerickes point it seems,so it is the same place,I know it's a rocky area with deep water so I suppose reef species such as musselcracker,galjoen,poensie,elf,red roman and sharks if that's your thing...like most of these South facing points,you have to be very carefull as it can get very dangerous very quickly with water rushing over rocks all of a sudden...

it's probably safer further to the West of Gericke's toward Gonna's and Kleinkranz where most reefspecies can be targetted,but it's a stiff walk...

yes,I know it as "die Leertjie"close to Kleinvoelklip,Voelklip(Haroldsbaai),Rooikransies on the Google earth map West of Haroldsbay...Kob and Elf-very rocky but deep water and sandy bottom,prefferably not to be fished alone...I like the book link you posted,gonna read that soon..thanks

sorry Icstuff,that's not it,look to the West of Haroldsbay,there are 2 Rooikransie places...the one close to Haroldsbay that also says "Rooikransies",that's it,then zoom in on it and you'll see the ladder and the white tip of the rock...

Be very careful of Voelklip, it is a dangerous place. I think it was Defenition that said on another inferior forum that the sea bottom has changed and it is now even more dangerous to fish there. I would give it a miss as Def is a pretty adventurous fisherman and if he says a place is dangerous I believe him.

Yes,as I mentioned,extreme care must be taken at some of these spots,rather stand and watch what the ocean does for half an hour before deciding what to do,if you feel it's safe enough then wait another 10min. and just observe the swells.Many fisherman never returned home from fishing these places.There are much safer and productive places than to go and risk it all for a fish...I would definately not take any kids to these places...

I have fished off shore in front of most of these spots in the 1970's as a primary school kid on my dad's boat but never fished them from the side.

I can't wait to try a few of these spots in December.
