The mayflies were big, about size 16 hooks, pitch black colour and long tails.

That is the pattern I used down river, but with a bit of purple UV flash in it - The muddies could not say away from it!

If we caught fish on every trip, it would be called " Catching". We don't, and that's why it's called "Fishing".

Great flies Nico.  (clap)

No floods predicted for this year, so I assume you are going for the fast deep runs this summer :dunno: :crzy :-)

Seeing that Monster ( Nico ) wil NOT answer his phone after 12:00 on a Friday, it was just Rory, Pieter and I that rtested Siverstrome this morning.

The first 3 runs are full of water grass, and we went staight through to the far side, to the area known as "Heathrow" where one is landed every minute.

B*ll Sh**.  :unhap

Even though we had a constant Caddis hatch, of different sub -species for nearly 3 hours solid, we battled to get fish.

Pieter hoked and lost a nice muddie  ( STRAFDOP ) , Rory and I both had on offs, and Pieter then landed a muddie , hand landed noggal, :resp: , as he didn't have a net (ANOTHER STRAFDOP ).

I wet waded and guestimate the temp at around 16 - 17 deg. Vis was around 30 cms.

Some pics of the morning.

If you look carefully Pieter is actually fighting a fish.
There are 3 different Caddis' on my leg.

Nice day on the river this Sunday. As Herman said the watergrass is seriously thick. Wading through the first 3 runs was like trying to walk through wet cement. Thirsty work indeed. We then got stuck in a massive caddis hatch, there were so many pupae shucks and casings on the water, it literally looked like the surface of the water was covered with sawdust - very impressive! The fishing was tough, and being very rusty didn't really help either. Still good to get out of the "Big Smoke" and get onto the water, thanks Pieter and Herman for a super morning!

Was so rusty that I almost forgot what to do with a fish on the line, and the last fish I ended up with my line wrapped around the reel!
