Not sure on the drop shot but get some iron candy spoons, Basil Manning will be able to advise, good luck
A bad days fishing is better than sitting at home moping.

Depends what you target, CLS is right though, if you check in a Basil Manning tell them what fish you are after and they should be able to guide you along. Be prepared for the question - what are you targeting.

I can see that your really waiting for this trip man  :rck". As for the shad... the season opens again on the 1st December. Any fish you catch before that should be released.

For the shad thou... a shiny shiny s-bend spoon. The guys at tackle shop will advise you.
For cob I would think the McArthy paddletails retrieved slowly and should bump along the bottom. Look for deep holes in the water. This is usually where they chill out. Also bucktail jigs worked the same way. The colour of lure depends. As some colours work on some days and not on others and vice versa. Generally dull and dark colours for overcast days, dawn and dusk. Bright and shiny colours for sunny days. For kingies im not sure about the conditions but surface lures and poppers would work for this species. Also the GT icecream plugs. Again, ask the guys at the tackle shops to show you the various lures used to target what your looking for. All the best bud. Hope to see a report from you as soon as you get the species your after  :-)

Make sure you have a couple of Sheppie Bomber spoons in your bag... an old faithful deadly spoon.
It's a 2 tone spoon, one side brass, the other side silver.

Finally got round to taking a pic of one...  :rotfl

They're old school Shivaan. You need to look around at tackle shops, they are hard to come by - definitely seen 1 or 2 at MIAS Woodmead in JHB.
Best is to raid old ballie's tackle bags...  :hnthnt: once upon a time, they were the only spoons we used!

I have some of those...but I need to get them to shine like yours
what's the best to bring some shine back to the spoons?

If it tin or copper, you can use the back of a knife to rub off the old oxidation and then rub it with the base of a hard bottle or glass to polish it off... works a charm.

I will post some pics when I am back in SA on how it's done but pretty strait forward....

Yup, at home I do mine with some Silvo jewellery cleaner first to remove the tarnish stains, then the back of a Shooter glass.

On the beach, just rub it with beachsand... you will be amazed how it shines up!
