Fishing have improved .

Landed a few kob , mullet thick .

Some large elf,still causing problems for most guys , one have a super hard time with these big elf in the shallows .

Guys just a general warning to anyone coming to Struis .
1. Theft on the plaat is rising agian

2 Unfortunately , across the whole South Africa , wolves , in sheep outfits .... even in this town .

Some lekke East coming

Hi Lenny,

Thank you for this thread, it has been amazing since inception and always very educational when needed.

Is there anything happening currently in struis or arniston. I am on my way up to Arniston this weekend with friends and the main objective is fishing.

Can you offer any insight as to conditions and which areas would be favourable to fish ?

Howzit , it’s mos a comp happening the weekend on arnies ?
A few block galjoen came out on die plaat the past couple of days , they chow wonderworm now , or prefer wonderworm now , as to moonshine or bloodworm , but I would still gooi both ...

Yesterday k a nice 10 kg plus steenbras was landed , in front of the plaat parking .

Arniston , are or could be very good this time of year .

If the water is very calm and clean , size down your tackle , fish lighter . Prawn , worm , mussel baits in no particular order .

Some strong easterly predicted for tomorrow , going on into Saturday morn , so there will be cob .

So be prepared , and Abe a tjokka , for the cob too , but they chow worms down there just as lekker .
Fish the pushing tide .
Two weeks ago , the rsspl comp wa that side , the condisions was very hard .

But some galjoen , bronzebream , and wildeperd was landed .

Keep us posted on how it went .

we went to Arniston from last Saturday till hirtage day. My friends left on friday night, unfortunately i could only leave on saturday afternoon as I had to work in the morning. they left at 11pm and went to our spot where we generally pump prawn. I opted to buy some pink prawn for the trip as I have had success on it previously.

I arrived on saturday evening just before sunset, my friends had already taken a walk down to the draad, so I decided to fish kassiesbaai. the first night was not productive at all and set the tone for a tough trip ahead.

On saturday morning, i finally had my chance to go down to the draad with some of the friends. As expected, fishing was very tough. We managed to get 1 belman, 1 undersized steenbras and a wildeperd, also undersize for the day. it was very tough conditions, we had to work the entire area to find the fish as the initial spots we had decided to fish were not producing any fish.

over the next few days, conditions seemed to get more tough, on monday, between us, we managed to get some das and 2 belman, 1 size and one was undersized.

on tuesday morning we had to check out at 11am, so we decided to be up y 4am to get ready and be on the beach by 5. we made the mistake of walking to the left instead of going to the right. this cause us to not get any fish for the first part on the morning. After going to the right, I managed 1 das, but that was it, we called it a trip there.

overall, we landed 11 fish for the 4 day trip, so not a bad result for the tough conditions. but it was really tough fishing

It wa indeed , a tough weekend , on Thursday , a very large kob was landed in front of the plaat parking lot estimated 30 kg plus .

Ones can do a lot , but the weather and condisions you can’t , yesterday , when everyone leaves after the weekend , the fish on the bite . Total of 8 kob was landed but 3 to 5 of the guys . Fishing was tough , livebait super weary .

I did not manage to fish .

I am no specialist when it comes to Struis, but ja, it seems after a few days of SE the Kob will/should come on the bite on the Plaat's side.

Thank you bloks.I have also read that once the wind blows heavy SE for few days then swings to NW then the fish come on the bite to. I enjoy fishing close to the wreck till suiderstrand. Looking to do a trip this weekend and would like to do my home work.Wind looks heavy till next week.

Would it be at all possible if someone could please share the various spots and names on the plaat.
I am hoping to to take a weekend, and walk and fish the plaat.
Just hoping the grass will be at a low.

Unfortunately Die Plaat changes all the time and you will have search for a good spot. There are very little land marks to go by except the low dunes. Hopefully Lenny will be able to provide you with updated info on spots that are firing at the moment.
Watch out for the guys breaking into vehicles at the parking area.

im new to this forum, and trust you all are well,

i have been coming to struisbaai since the age of 7 for holidays but recently, desember 2019 bought a property in Struis as i always wanted to be called a local

i always have been fishing from the boat but as i see and have heard the shore fishing is even better,

any good reports lately as i am coming thru next weekend of the 4th September again?

Planning on going to Struis the weekend of the 9th and 10th of October....hopefully there will be some fish around! Taking the wife and kids for a weekend away.
