Tough day yesterday a again , between the 7 buddies , only 4 fish , I was lucky enough to get one , of 8 kg .

hi Lenny
i will be staying in Struisbaai(never been ...first time) for 1 day ...and the targeted species will be Galjeon and kolstert.
looking at the weather(30 June 2018) where would you suggest I begin fishing.
i have gathered some information on locations but were would be the most productive given the tides(high VS low).

Big seas , and terrible current has been happening our efforts .

here goes my fishing report 30 June to 1 July 2018:
Weather wasn't too great when we left CT ...
we arrived in Struisbaai at around 10:30 Saturday morning(weather was beautiful) .... sorry lenny

so we drove through to the harbour and since it was heading torwards the low tide we decided to explore some of the coastline towards suiderstrand....we decided to head back as the water did not look too good ...
we settled on a spot near spookdraai(i think thats what is it called) ... BAITS OUT....Chokka and sardine mix on one rod and redbait on the other.
no action for a while and then BOOOOMMMMMMM

[/size][size=78%].......[/size][/size].rod starts to bounce .... 5 minutes later a nice specimen of a pyjama shark....lots of FUN ....[size=78%]
we packed up and decided to move to another stop ... its opposite to a house with lots of gnomes on the lawn(Thats my GPS co-ordinates ...

[/size]It looks like a high tide spot with a deep channel running in front ..... but there was no further action and we decided it call it a night.[size=78%]

[/size]we again tried on Sunday morning .... same spot(opposite the house with the gnomes) ... we had a few pick ups but did not manage to hook anything ......[size=78%]

[/size]and that ended our Struisbaai trip ....i will be going back in November ...so hopefully i can dig-up a few more spots by then.[size=78%]

Some excellent fish the past couple of days , we got two bus galjoen , will post pics some time .

Hi guys,

New to the site, most of my fishing time is spent in freshwater, as I don't get to the ocean more than once a year.

I'm heading down to Struisbaai next week Tuesday-Friday, but will be there for business so will only be able to fish after 5pm each day unfortunately. Is there anyone in the area that might be fishing next week that I can maybe join one afternoon/evening?, don't care what species are targeted as long as I can fish. Obviously don't have much time to scout and find spots, never been there before either. I am more than willing to supply the drinks of choice of course.

Also seeing that I won't be able to source bait, is there any one/place that sells redbait ,worms etc? Please excuse the ignorance.

bait can be bought at fish n more (behind the little shopping centre) please bare in mind that worm cannot be bought... there also a tackle shop around the corner from the centre, if all else fails hit the harbour wall, that place can be magical at times...

I've been seeing a lot of your posts.

First time now that I have noticed that you are based in Struisbaai. Myself and a few of my fishing mates are based here - We frequent at "die plaat", but actually just in front of Argonauta Park. We should all get together and have a few throws.

Myself and friends will be in Struisbaai from Saturday to Monday morning. Was wondering if you had a sinker price list?
Maybe even a few pointers on fishing spots, mostly rock and surf for ed's.

Drew,

"Die Plaat" is often a good stretch of beach for edibles.

Live bait (mullet) is always best for Kob, but chokka, or even a chokka & Pil combo will also do the trick. [size=78%] [/size]

As for Steenies and Galjoen, best bet would be worm (rasta looking chap that hangs around the OK should have), which due to the moon phase are not in abundance.
Redbait is plentiful by the harbour usually first thing in the morning.

Thanks for the advice.
I spoke to an ex w.p fisherman friend last night he mentioned that directly opposite the campsite you can get white steenbras and belman on bloodworm,late afternoon on a pushing tide.
Also said 2 km from the campsite,used to be a green board, thinks only 2 concrete block left there now with the pole the board was on, for the same.

Yes that whole stretch of beach is good

Just read the sea, find yourself a channel
