Always tough to follow a boat report but here goes!

Spent the week in struis with my folks, plan was to spend some time fishing with my dad. Week started slow with strong winds and swell. We fished the plaat with prawn and only managed small steenbras and some blacktail. As well as plenty of small smooth hounds.

Conditions improved towards the end of the week and thursday afternoon saw us marching down the plaat armed with bloodworm and moonshine worm. After a lengthy walk we found a good hole. And what a spot it turned out to be...non stop action for 3 hours..4 steenbras, 2 kob, a belman and a huge blacktail. Only kept one kob for the braai. Was awesome watching the old man running around like a kid and sprinting to his rod. Most of the fish were between 45 and 60 cms with a couple of good ones in between.

needless to say friday we were back, but conditions had changed, stronger current and swell. My dad got a nice galjoen and 2 kob...and all I got for my efforts were bigger smooth hounds.

still a great day. Just goes to show, 5 species  in one hole...struis is a superb destination!

A couple of pics to follow.

@ Lofty

The experts will tell you that when the NW pumps and big swells then it opens up some holes on the plaat.

The locals were down there with redbait so that tells you a little something :)

Thanks tony thanks Sean .

Weather. Turned for the worst , and we're hunkering down for the worst to past .

As you guys see , the fish still think its summer .

Plenty of good fish around , if you fish hard .

Turns 123  sure got a dam good hole , any sandy hole holding more than 3 species are a winner in any book .

Regarding the galjoen from die plaat ,  there's some serious seriously big galjoen on die plaat , even at de mond a few weeks ago some gooooooood galjoen were caught there .

Unfortunate that certain locals rapes the closer areas on die plaat so mainly IMO the small ones are caught out , but the big ones remains there .
Regarding the condisions and water condisions , some of my biggest galjoen have been caught in water with very little foam  basicly the opposite of the " text. Book" condisions .

They might just be hungry , I have picked up that in the start of the season , they don't really bother about hiding in the foam .

Sorry guys , I havebeenvery still .
Yes so I made a few special missions . There's good fish around , youlle need good bait , prawns , worms , and for galjoen redbait , some guys are doing well in the galjoen department , both on die plaat , and from die las towards skiulpies bay , there's a constant stream of guys hanging around there .

My Buurman and his cru did really we'll , the managed a couple good galjoen in the skiulpies baai area , they also managed a few baartman and some kobs and steenbrasse , they mostly  worked the plaat with mullet and prawn . The last mentioned , was caught on die plaat  .

We had some strange winds some good easterlies , and some good colour around , strange for this time of the year , a big storm has moved in and some deck boats are taking shelter in the bay , so the storm wil be around a couple of days .

Will update soon .

True. We have tried a couple of times to organise a  :ult: social in Struis but next year we should do our best to get all the WC guys there for a weekend. I just need to settle after the move and then I will try and set the ball rolling. I know Lenny, Bettys, 7/10 and PH will be keen to help.
Start thinking about it boys and lets plan this properly.  :rck"
