Midweek repor .

To be honest , I don't know what's really happening , or don't know too much .

But I fished Tuesday , ad got a few pecks but packed up as the howling winds came northwesterly .

Since then we have these westerlies , good for steenbrass , and its their time now , but be prepared to brave the condisions .

It does seem the weekend will be gooood condisions , and some good galjoen and wildeperd will make their appearance for sure .

Red bait are very scarce , so if you're coming the weekend make alternative plans .
The fish are or do want red bait now .

Another cracker of a day , after the easterlies was howling yesterday and the day before .

And just like Murphy , today there are tons of red bait . I got some from the hawe manne , and went down to the harbour for a light tackle mission , I to two sticks , my dad went with me , as there's some sand on the wall making me slow , he decided to have a couple of casts too , and never never underestimate my dad , he schooled me properly , I was catching streepies after streepies , he was on time and time again , with nice sized kolsterte and a couple of very nice wildeperd , he must have caught and released 7 before I got on the board .

W ran out of bait after we must have landed 30 odd fish , we took two for the pan .

Yet again , I have sad  sad news of guys taking advantage of the fish going. Bossies , this time around two gents , in their late 50's. Blatantly bagging as much asthe could .
What's even more disturbing , that the one topple was wearing his presidents team shorts , and his Boland hat , whilst we were there they took about 17 kolsterte and 9 wildeperd . Very nice you fools . The one guys in his presidents shorts and Boland cap , have been doing this the whole week , it's absolute disguising to see guys that know the rules , just not giving a rats ass , well when he's cooler was full he quikly made his way to his bakkie , emptied it out and came back for more but the time he got back his mate , already bagged another three doubtfull size kolsterte , I don't want to be in persons like this heads , to find out how they think .
Is impossible to take those amount of fish weather it's for personal consumption or bait .
Tics is why I have very I'll to no respect for club anglers SKAAM JULLE .
I suppose I will get grilled because of my statements here about club angling , but I really don't care , when there's league comps the weekends or club Get togethers , the town is filled with rude , drunk hooligans , driving like maniacs , throwing net in the harbour , pumping prawns in the harbour ect ect
It seems the club anglers think because they own expensive gear and drive double cabs they are the life blood of fishing , well you're not ,
You fish rock and surf because you can't afford a boat , or you get seasick from all the brandewyn that get gulped down .

It's aan sad state of affairs guys

My rant is over .

It is sad and it happens everywhere. I saw it when we were still living in Stilbaai.  Top club anglers would use a drag net in the river to catch Mullet the night before a competition. Sickening.  :unhap

Due to unforeseen circumstances we will be in Struisbaai next weekend. We will be there for my Uncle's funeral on Friday and the plan is to stay until Sunday. I will not have time to fish but hope to hook up for a chat with Lenny and 7/10 if possible.

Short report in struis:

Thursday 11.06.2015

Decided to have a late launch (15h00) in the day to try for some bottoms... Went with two friends from Greyton (Haasie and Alex). Lenny was to be with us but got stuck in load shedding traffic in Somerset West so we went to the wreck of the Pioneer and messed about with some bottoms. We had fun with the light tackle on the galjoen and wildeperdtjies. The water was dirty and warm in the inshore and perfect for gallies. Most of the gallies were just size and went back to grow with the wildeperdtjies as I dont eat either. Lenny got back at  just before 17h00 so we went and picked him up at the harbour and went to the Kromrug to look fot some geelbek. The water looked good and we promptly found some nice showings on the sounder but after a few hours of feeding the nibblers and no Luck we headed in. For some rest.

Friday 12.6.2015,
We proceeded to the Blougansie after a late morning launch. Anton, liam and myself- unfortunately lenny was out for the day... We found some birds working in 16.5 def water. Afther throwing plenty of surface lures at them we had zip so changed to back lines and in short order we were on. We went back to surface lures and in short order had caught 25 fish the biggest only about 6kg we kept a few and sent some of the smaller ones back in thier way.

The birds stopped working at just after 10 when the fish sounded and we packed in and moved to the 12 mile banks where the water was clean and blue but a cool 17deg ( good winter temp for here at this time of year). We threw a few baits at the bottoms and one nice miss lucy came to th party and became a pan fry.We called it a day and cruised into the harbour at 14h00 and washed and packed the boat away as the forcast looked very bleak for the next week... We were also given a small Kob by a commercial which at 4kg gutted became dinner and was the best pan fry I have had this year...

13.6.2015
We got up early and saw the bad wind was not yet upon us so pulled the boat out of the shed and ran to the five mile banks with all Antons and our kids and some friends kids. We trolled some lures and had great fun but despite good showings zip was caught.. We were back for brunch at 11h00 as the wind came up.

Some pics of gallies, yellow tail on blue surface lure ( rapala ) and fresh Kob for diner..
