:corrct: My wife had a good paddle but unfortunately I could not get onto the ski. We went to the small concrete slipway to the right of the harbour but the water level varied too quickly and the swirling of the water on the slipway caused the ski to move too much and made it very difficult for me. Tomorrow we'l give it a bash at the small sandy beach to the left of the harbour.

Hi guys,

Finally on the forum!

Was on the harbour wall on Thursday (12th). Water conditions were clear with not much wave action. With very little hope I netted some mullet and put a live bait in the channel about 50m off the wall. Put the rod down and grabbed my spinning setup. Casting out toward De Mond I had a large leerie (100cm) come up for my spinner and turn away. With new found hope I casted out a fresher livey and within 10 minutes something picked it up. The fish then dropped the mullet but came back for another shot. As it started running I struck into it and it was hooked but as it surfaced about 30m infront of me it shook its head and the hook pulled. Must have been a good 90cm leerie.
 :grk:
Very worth a try for them, looks like the warm water has brought them in.
Please catch, take a picture and release if you do get one. I still need to get my first big one!  :fshn:

Cheers,
Konrad

Welcome Konrad .

Nice meeting you in person , and having a fish together .

So Guys Konrad , got a Gully , /wil let him fill in the juicy details .

I saw some guys going tight this morning , on the push , looked like a Proper Raggie , but there was a mix up and the dropped it right inform of their feet , the Angler then went APE on the poor lightie that tried to grab it ha ha ha . try again .

Tinus , also a forum Member , got a Raggie by the B bord , on a Tail head , apron 150 kg  , I will let him post the details , and Pic .

the weather seem to be nice for Holidaymaking but not for fishing , its taking a turn for the worst with SW winds predicted and currently SW . this is not good .

My self and nick also made a mission on sunday , we only managed 1 proper mullet and three babies , fished a very productive looking area again with two baits out , NADAAAAAA .

We are planning a Mission to another spot tomorrow EVE .

update /forecast /report .

Still a SW wind , some areas have been showing Kelp already , going on reports the SW will be with us till after Xmis , the 26/27 th looks like very good days to fish .

Myself and nick had a botched mission , when we tore my net , a Lady caught a Belman , and her husband caught a Gullie . We have no enquiries on lures and saw no Leeries . the water was flat dead warm .

The westerly usually puts me of the fishing in summer . but it seems I should get my act together .

Whalerider and Turns 123 ,  for how long those fish will still be there I don't know , I did send Warrick a pic , and the word is out on the fish thats that side , the Westerly will change concision there . and there will be kelp there . I don't know why you guys don't fish down there with Paddletails , its such an easy place to get them on a shot ... wees lekker , maak plan .

Good news is that Keegan , forgot his forum name , landed a large Bag this morning , so its fresh of the beach . He will most probably post the juicy bits ...

I have a couple of thing to handle today , get a new net , ext and by tomorrow we will have things going .... looking for a PB of some sorts ...
FISH ON !

Must be I think the weather made most guys reach for the nearest strongest poison available ... I saw Salti the boat last week , but since they must have put her away as its not standing in Klein Roberson anymore ...

Tony it was the strangest conditions , with n big surge , I have never seen such a surge in front by the block of the harbour , loads of strong water , moving around . It is clearing up a bit , and I think on the 1st when everyone is 'sleeping in '  it will be a sea day .

The fish i know of are from the surf and rocks .

Neil reported on FB about 2 weeks back they saw some Snawelvisse jump .... oil on the fire ha ha ha ha

Awesome on the cracker!

Lenny you know how it goes...learnt a valuable lesson in struis this holidays...a tired wife and a 2 and a half year old little boy are not conducive to fishing early, fishing late or fishing in general...

First time in 8 years I have not caught a fish in struis over December...bleak bleak bleak.

conditions were tough but the wife was tougher :)

Lenny and co. Fly the flag and hope you gents get some fish!

He got more than one apparently , I have pics Konrad sent me . I am just wondering what fly did he us.  Years ago I dived alot , and saw crakerz often , they always were very interested in the divers  , and did not spook easily or at all

Lenny, I will try and find out but sometimes the guys keep it a secret. Maybe it was a Redbait imitation.  :hyst:

The surf and rocks are starting to liven up .

And

PLENTY PLENTY FISH out at the back TAIL ,BEK  ,KOB averaging 800 kg to ton per boat . and then just the next day disappearing act of all above mentioned fish .

The fact that the fish are living up at the back will have Tony/7/10 frothing  form the mouth ...
