Yes .
So there was a couple of large Wit Stenbraase landed op die plat , I personally saw two of them well over the 10kg mark , I however only managed a bunch of Steenbrasse in the 3 to 5 kg range [ not what I am after]

Brandties .
We changed our tactics , to look for a Baardman , but no joy either .
 Will keep at it .
This sucks !

I would be happy to catch a couple of 5kg Steenbrasse but I know how frustrating it can get when you know the big fish are there but not on the end of your line.

Ja , and It was a custom Pump too .

Weather is looking fine , with two days sunshine and Light Westerlies , Its overcast today ,and the rains is coming.
There are some serious weather on its way , and we can expect it over the weekend . If you have bait and willing to get wet , you will get some serious fish .
A mate of mine fished de Mond , and landed 2 sizers , the biggest of the two a stofsuier of note 15kg and the other one just under 10 kg , he released both as he walked up from Die plaat parking lot which it a 10 km mission there and a 10 plus km trek back . We have only been fishing around the Harbour and past Pontjie botter , and only have a few undersize Galjoen / Wit Steenbrasse to show for our efforts . We did see a nice Cracker landed , but we don't bother with Crackers in the Winter as its mostly caught in summer , they don't like the cold .

Theres nice Galjoen past the Light house , all the way to Brandfontein , there has been some large bunches of Kelp in Brandfontein , hampering efforts but the Galjoen has been Wild according to some anglers that fish that area a lot .
With bad weather on its way , Today and the two days after the worst weather has come past , then its big time GO GO time to Brandfontein , Brandfontein sits IN the teeth of the weather , and well thats why its a good area to fish , because all othe the surrounding areas , you will have to know where to find a decent area thats open at the back to fish.

The water has been very clean and flat for the past week , not to cold mind you .
The fish are for sure going ON when the tide drops , just as you can notice the water pulling back .
Fish are feeding on Red bait , which are scarce at the moment , so if you are coming through and want red bait , try to bring your own , the bit that wash up are very very quickly collected .
The big Steenbrasse , wants a Bloodworm .

(clap) Great report, Lenny. It looks like the fish are there for those who are willing to work hard for them and do not mind the cold. My Sister is on her way there and if I knew you were looking for redbait I would have send you some with her. I am not sure if she would have like the idea of redbait in their car but we could have tried.  :hehe:

ITs been freezing here , and I have a few reports of fish .

The Galjoen are still going mad in Brandfontein . Eating everything .

Die plaat is still , odd GRoot Steenbrasse , but the guys are keeping quite , an lots of guys are sleeping in early morning due to the cold . a Few guys ventured out to de mond , and took a long walk , and was rewarded with very good STeenbrasse .

The water was flat and very clean for about a week , it has changed now , we had some Easterlies and it looks good now .
The minority of fish are over the rocks , fish these areas on low tide .

Seems like the weather were better around PE the last two weeks. Reports of young leeries and elf of 2to 3kg on life baits at Gamtoos. Summer is on it's way but the better weather coming towards you this weekend is bring the cold to us. As long as it rains with the cold it's fine. We need rain and quick.

The only info I have are a Cracker of 9 kg [ I have never believed to get them in Winter here , and well sometimes you do ] I know the exact Area where this fish came out , but will rather take you there , if the fish are there , than to put it up here .
Finally got my wheels . And it looks like the weather will be nice too. I have not been fishing a lot or at all actually .

But it seems we will have a leaker easterly just to stir up the ocean again , and bring some warmer water .

My bait is hanging ...

Ph , theres a couple of guys with Kayaks  , and some do fish the area known as  Die LAs . they paddle from the harbour around , its not a heavy paddle , but I must warn you , theres some serious Crakers , Big Elf  and Leeries there in the summer , you better not fish too light for IF the beast comes along , and thats one of those places where it happens often . Even from the rocks itself on LOW tide , its a well know Cracker/ elf spot in summer . Its not a very popular spot and from the rocks , you must know where to stand and fish , and be prepared to loose a couple of sinkers , but over the years theres been some monster crackers caught there . Suderstrand you will get you Elf / loads of Kob and Geelbek , I know a Kayaker in Suiderstrand , best we get you hooked up with him where your here ... But I know they don't go far , and barely barely not get something interesting ...
