I am a total newbie when it comes to fishing that said I am seriously thinking of getting this setup:
1. Daiwa Wincaster
2. KFisher Poseidon gold class
3. 600m Braid
4. 20m Monoshock leader
5. Bionic Finger
At this stage of my fishing career im chasing edibles off the beach  and pier. I would appreciate your comments on the above mentioned rig.

Daiwa Windcast is a great reel. But you won't get 600m of braid on it. Maybe 300m of 50lb?
Poseidon Gold Class is rated up to 3oz, so if you're looking at Bait fishing, then maybe look a bit stronger. A 11-12ft rod. Assassin Spinmaster 2-5oz or Beachmaster spinning 6oz. Something like that?
Leaders are generally kept short (1m) so that you don't cast the joining knot through the guides.
Bionic finger takes a bit of getting used to but works well.
If you're looking at throwing plugs and spoons, then go with a lighter rod - less work - Daiwa Exceler, Assassin Amia... these rods can double up for throwing baits as well, but are generally rated up to 4oz.

Thank you for the advice and information Reefman.
Im still keen on the Windcaster but what setup would you recommend for bait casting targeting edibles on 13"+ Rod on the beach or off the pier?
Im thinking of a rod with say 15-16ft Rod with an extended butt, I saw on utube that these guys get the similar distance as multipliers. Of course they were pommies but sure the same can apply here with a SA rigs?

Hi BG. The exstended butt or power butt as the frechwater guys call it can be very uncomfortable when reeling your line in with the reel sitting in your face. I would recomend the exstended butt range from Blue Marlin. You exstend the butt for casting and when reeling in your line the reel is in the same position as it should be with a regular rock and surf rod. It is your joice  what you buy and how much you would like to spend. It is more comfy wirh the reel at the bottom when reeling in your line.

A 15 foot rod is waaaaay too long for our applications in SA. The size of our baits, sinkers etc are too heavy. Furthermore you wont always fish off a beach so room to swing is an issue. The weight of 15 foot rod will also be an issue.

Rather look at something in the 12-13foot range. The real question is what fish will you be targeting? Scratching sized fish or kob etc.

Couldnt have said it beter !

You will be more comfortable with a shorter lighter stick , Casting sinkers from 3 to 5 ounce .
Best would be is to visit your tackle shop of choice or not , and getthem to pair up a outfit , or ask them to pair up and outfit of your choice and budget , best is to feel it . even better , link up on a social with the guys , maybe someone will bring you a rod a reel and you could have a gooi [keep an eye open for the threads regarding socials ]  :welc: :welc:

Agree with Lenny. If can have a cast with a rod setup before you bay, you can save yourselves a lot of many. People out there beleave that the longer the rod, the bigger the distance. That is not the case. For rock and surf I will not go more than 14". The average guy do better with a 13".

I beg to differ anand naicker and myself have been fishing pentagon P7 and bulls eyes for a year now. We have proven that it works with more than a ton of fish caughg from shore in falsebay.hauling head baits against a south easter. We have streamlined the leader to a braided dyneema and 1m nylon. The P seven and bulls eye match beautifully. We have opted not to use the setup on the mountain for obvious reasons.HMP ultra thin 50lb is our braid of choice.

P.s we use 6oz grabs for head baits and 7 oz for choka pills ect. We found after using S 6 t flex tirelago BM extender FSSC rods that the extra foot with our height average 6 foot gives us crazy results. We have out casted most guys on wp comps to get all the pulls. Btw anand is no1 in wp league at present and all fish were on grinder. Bronzies of 178 pcl are but a few.
