From Basil Mannings website:

AQUILA SURF reels are designed specifically for long distance surf   casting applications using braided lines. They feature machined   aluminium spools, oversized drag system with Japanese oil felt washers, 7   Anti-Rust stainless steel bearings, large aluminium handle with round   EVA knob and instant anti-reverse. Combined with an Assassin Beachmaster   Spinning rod equipped with a Bionic Finger and Gosen high-performance   braid you have the ideal outfit for both novice and competitive anglers.

I haven't personally used the Aquila spinning reels for the shore game style of fishing, but I know them quite well and they would do the job I am sure. They are very very good value for money reels! I will say however that at this point, they are not in the same league as the Shimano Stradic/Sustain..
if you are looking for a more affordable option, then the Aquilas will do the job for you. If you are serious about shore game and can afford it..use a shimano.
Because a fish is too valuable to catch only once!

Thanks for the information. Maybe it is time for our Doctor Reefz to dissect one and give us the ins and outs?
