Decided that after all these years a proper pair of sunnies was in order. Got myself a from-me-to-me present in the form of Maui Jim World Cup Marlin sunglasses that are something else.

Got myself a new rod... Okuma Azores 7" Boat Jigging rod. It's a one piece rod with MH action. Rated at 10-15 Kg line and 50-150 g, strong back bone and light as a feather. Stronger guides comparing to the Shimano Trevala.... I'll pair it with a Daiwa Saltist 4500.

I'm gonna cast plugs to death this summer!
Anyone used this rod before? Was too good a deal to let it pass for only 3 250.00 Mets (about R775) brand new...

Nice Marcos, the new Okuma rods are really unbelievable value for money!! I have a bunch of their SLX Boat rods and flick sticks and they awesome, been very impressed!

Treated myself to an Assasin slayer, daiwa crossfire, Ceymar 30, inflatable boat and Garmin Striker Plus 4cv.
Now I'm looking for a fishing ski...

oh dear this topic has been quiet for a while

But I have fallen off the bus, and ordered from Basil's . Amazing service from Verushka so I have some Rapala magnum 30's, xtreme 160's and some sailfish exciters which are so similar to the old Alien lures I got from Demon tackle when it was running.

I also got some Boon cable cutters 1.5mm cable and some Swanell clips to attach the Rappies

I also found in my collection some Oar-Gee 90 lures which we shall pull, they dive to 3m and have an aggressive action, anyone else ever used them?

Looking at a trip to the coast at Easter and when I can't fish I enjoy rigging lures

Hi John F. I Would like to know what your thoughts are in the Azores rod? I'm looking for a flick stick to pair with a stradic 5000 to use off my kayak to throw spoons, poppers etc in kzn. I see on Basil Mannings online store it falls under "flick sticks". Just not sure it's right for what I'm looking for.

Guys, I stuffed up big time!!!

I succumbed to tackle addiction last night and now am feeling very guilty... Do you guys have remedies for the post tackle binge buying blues?

I haven't bought fishing tackle for so long and haven't been fishing in so long that on a recent unplanned light tackle barbel trip to the Vaal the hunger to fish was re-ignited.

I bought the following and will post pics when it arrives:

Loomis Archipelago 11ft
Shimano Sedona c5000 reel
Daiwa Laguna 8ft spinning rod
Shimano Siena 3000 reel
2 x Conoflex Ultra pro 8ft rods
2 x Rovex 3000 baitrunners
Enough Braid and Mono to wrap around earth
Braid scissors
2 x rod bags

I binge watch Youtube fishing videos and the Alcock brothers DVD's which also fueled these purchases... Gear should arrive in the week...

It has been a while since I have seen anything on this post, the guys who own tackle shops must be seriously depressed. I am not doin ganything to help them, but I did make some purchases this weekend. Often on Friday afternoon I will pop in at a local auction house not too far from home, just to see what is selling at the Saturday morning auction, and if there is something of interest, I may go, depending on how strong the interest is. Probably 9 plus times out of 10, I won't go, because I have enough stuff at home, and don't really want more.
However, this Friday past, there were 4 x fishing reels sitting in a tuppperware tub, and I thought hmmmmmmm, that looks interesting. To cut a long story short, I bought 4 x multiplier fishing reels that I don't really really need: -
1 x Daiwa Grand Wave 50 - brand new (just missing the plate and screws to secure it to your rod)
1 x Shimano Speedmaster IV - used, but good condiiton
1 x Immec 150D - old - looks kind of like a Penn 49
1 x Kencor no 630H - also an older reel (stainless steel)
No sure yet, exactly what I am going to do with top 2, but the bottom 2 are destined for our gillies down in the Transkei. Will give them a service, and make sure they are in reasonable working condition
Anyway for R600, it was a great deal, and I had some great fun at the auction (and will also have some fun opening them up and cleaning the reels). Also bought some T handle allen keys - R100 for a set of 6. I have previously bought 1 for more than that. Had to restrain myself from buying more tools.

So I did a bit of buying in December and January which I thought I needed since I don't do much heavy fishing.
I decided I needed to have light and ultra light tackle but most of them was on deal, I think

Thing is I don't know when it is going to be fished with.
I bought 27 spoons ( mix bag of saltwater spoons from a guy for R 500 )

(I have about 10 spoons, two bucktails, 5 different types of GT Ice Creams kept away from 2018, not even used but somehow I needed these 27 spoons)

Bought an Assassin Spin 8ft Heavy, used once, cleaned and kept away.
Bought 16 second hand spoons for R 80 , yes R 80, cleaned, made them shiny, kept away.
Saw a Pioneer Cyclone Prestige, looked good, so I bought it, Kept away not used.
Bought 2 20lb boss braid, kept away.
Bought and Exceller 20 5000 DC reel recently, needed braid somehow, bought 20lb and 15ilb (kept away)
One weekend ago, went to Kloof, bought 3 bags of lures (each with 8/9 bags of plastics, all sizes with a container of jig heads) for R 1000.00
with it I bought Prawn pump and net, 2 rod stands, and received all unwanted fishing stuff free (second hand).
(fishing sinkers, trace holders, a fishing belt, saltwater flies) donated most of it, kept what I needed.

Yesterday I bought a Sensation purple stick spin 7ft for R 700.00 and matched that to an ITX 3000 HS reel, brand new.
Kept away.

I still have an Loomis 10ft Archipelago not fished with yet, an Okuma RTX 55 kept away,
I am using a second hand Mitchel 398 and a Loomis Shad Pro X as a back up Rod and reel
Penn pursuit 3 5000 and a refurbished 10ft Sealy rod for rock and surf fishing.
An Okuma C40 and Penn Allegiance 2 7ft tiger rod for light spinning or spoon fishing.
(I have a fishing bag with about 10 spoons, 10 individual paddle tails, jig heads etc.)

I have promised my wife that I will stop buying now.
I have so much tackle kept away and my old tackle are in excellent condition as a take good are of it.
Wife says I keep buying and storing it lol, don't think I will use it anytime soon.
Will try and post some pictures of the tackle in storage.
