I have ordered myself the Assassin offshore spin/jig rod, its apparently designed as a dual purpose rod for both spinning and jigging ?? has anyone got any comments ??

On Friday I drove past, what I thought would be a dingy tackle shop and made the fatal mistake of going back and wlking in "just to have a look" ...
Well, I can honestly say that the addiction is still there and does not seem to have been left behind in RSA.

Got my hands on a pair of Pelagic Sunny's. They are made in the same factory as Costa's and are wicked.
Of course the wife was told that one story that I thought would work... "Oh wow, I forgot I had these and found them at the bottom of my tackle trommel"
Along with a few inline hooks and some other odds and sodds, a new snapper rod didn't hurt either.

I thought I was in the clear until she messaged me half an hour ago with a new 18 ct dimond ring she also says she found at the bottom of my fishing trommel ....

I think she may be on to me ..

Can't see how you can get a good jigging rod out a flick stick and visa versa

Rory, I've been using for the last few years a Shimano Trevala MH 7 ft rod coupled with a Stradic 8k as a boat spinning setup. But it is rated as a jigging rod?!

Must be the same concept...

Some times the longer rod can entice a bite when the short stiffer rods can't. Nothing wrong with a 6.6ft for shallow jigging.

I'd say 50-80 m of 80 lb braid... and mono (80-100 lb) to bulk up the spool.

With braid you get less vibration and less resistance (the weight dives deeper)...

Cable hums a bit when trolling braid or Dacron good till you get a overwind or knot

Hopefully getting it tomorrow and weather permitting will test on Saturday, will let you know it goes, if it is k*K I will take it back, simple as that.

What the heck....... I made a small impulse buy before my trip to Zambia next week. This has caused an argument with home affairs!!! She claims that
a. (yes the crazy creature used alphabetical bullet points!!!!)
Going on the Internet and finding a reel and accessories... Then
b
Sending money to a mate in SA from the DRC....then
c
Getting him to go to a tackle shop to buy the reel for me...then
d
Arranging a courier to collect it an take it to another mate.... then
e
Getting that mate to bring it to the DRC for me and THEN
f
Diverting one of my trucks to collect it in Lubumbashi and bring it to me is NOT an impulse BUY.

I don't agree... I felt an impulse and I bought it... The arrangements after that are irrelevant!

I hope she does not find out about the binos and new remote fire flash I got!!!

PS nice acquisition there Prego!!! I like the look of that rig. Maxel make VERY good rod holders so I would think that rig would be solid.
