hehehe we all hope for the 50kg size to take the bait....
Could you reccommend for a heavy and medium outfit,
I have a shimano stradic 4000 and trevala rod, im not sure what that can handle though? I reckon that is a medium outfit?
Im going to be fishing in the cape so the YFt can get big.

For the long fins that setup with 30lb braid should be fine although you will be in for some beatings of note I think. I think a Saragosa 8000 or something of the sort  with 30-50lb braid would be more of a medium setup for Tuna.

 For those big boy YFT over 50kg only reels for the job would be Stellas, Saltigas, Penn Torque etc will do.
Rods to go with those reels all depending on your budget, Jigstar, shimano Trevala, Speedmaster, Blue rose.
Braid I would say nothing less than 80lb.

A good budget option in my mind would be a Shimano Saragosa 18000 with 100lb braid and a shimano Trevala heavy jigging rods. You should pick this kit up with braid for about R5k.

In this case budget is the key. There are entry level options, and there are expensive "quality" options. Yellowfin box hard and my opinion is that you should go for the very best you can afford. Prego's advice is good. My "light" outfit for our tuna here in KZN is the exact rig he mentioned - Saragossa 8000, 50lb sufix braid and a Trevala MH rod. It can handle fish up to 15kg pretty easily but I have been severely punished by the heavier tunny mostly due to the rod being a bit soft. Going for the 50kg+ models on this rig would be  !! I suggest going for an all round rig with 80lb braid (will give you extra capacity) - for a budget rig the 18000 Saragossa and Trevalla XXH would do the job but I would seriously look at JigStar's products in the more expensive rod department as they are simply excellent (try the JSR350 Spinning rod or Ocean God range) and will match well with the Saragossa 18000, but a Stella 18000 would be top choice although it's big bucks!!! What is your proposed budget plus minus?

I wouldnt want to go too much more than 4-5k. I see the heavy rods go for about 3K  already.

Have a look at jigstars ocean God 400. Probably best bang for your buck in the "budget" tackle range. its far from budget, but more palatable than most.
sargossa best for now, but if you plan on targetting YFT on this set up often then save up and get stella. I guess for the 4k you could be hard pressed toget a sargossa and ocean god, but its worth paying the extra for this combo over some of the "cheaper" rods.

ok so I have spent some ching and now have a Saragosa 18000F with daiwa braid (the coloured line) paired up with a Composite Development rod.

prego CD rods made in new zealand. fishing in mozi last year trolling for cuta with a 6-10kg setup hooked in to a zambezi of around 90kg wish i had video on how this rod bent i expected the rod to snap at any moment but it didnt!!!! u can take this rod and literally bend the tip to almost touch the butt end of the rod. they not cheap rods but well worth your money!!!

Not sure if you've caught Cape yellows before but don't mess around.
18/20k Stella, one of Nepps heavier rods, 100lb+ braid.
You can't choose between a 10kg longie and a 100kg yellow - rather be prepared.
