Hi all, I had to go to Bredell today. Took the Pamona off ramp off the R21 and drove towards Bredell. Right next to the traffic lights at ( I think it's the R23 crossing, Benoni/Kaalfontein ), Engen garage across the intersection on the left , is a very interesting looking dam. The access is off Pamona road. There are bouys in the water, which according to a colleauge who lives in the area are for remote controlled powerboat racing.
 
The dam has good structure along the banks, but again according to my colleauge tends to break it's wall often in times of heavy rain.
 
What was interesting to me was the number of large rises I saw, all around the dam. w;k
 
Now whether they were Carp, Barbel, Bass or Yellows is anyone's guess.
 
Basic question, anyone with fishing knowledge of this dam and what species ???
 
P.S. The dam has been there for at least 30 years. :-)

Herman I stay about 5km from the dam and from what I've seen its got plenty of subsistence fishermen that frequent it. So who knows whats left

It used to be fished by a small club privately and they used to maintain it and the fences etc, there are some Bass, Carp  and Barbel in there as far as I know. One of the chaps from the Sports club still fishes there and is always on about getting some decent carp and barbel, but I will ask him again when he first walks in and not when he is ready to leave!! :beer: :beer:

They used breed koi in that dam.
Nowdays, they mostly race remote control powerboats there, hence the buoys.
Used to hold some pretty decent carp and barbel from the streams that flow in and out. Dont think its the safest area anymore to be standing and fishing alone.

Sorry, I am looking for an outboard engine fitment centre. Being a boater thought thats what Shags was referring to.
