Rock & Surf Moz
« on: February 24, 2012, 11:17:55 AM »
We should think of doing a trip to Moz. If we go North as far as Xai-Xai which is only 180 Km out of Maputo we will find some great fishing destinations. I am sur JohnF will be able to asssist with the areas. If you go camping or chalets it will not be that expensive. We can travel together and in most of the spots we will not need 4X4's. I camped at Bilene and 2 nights worked out at R175-00 and there is a nice Restaurant at the camp site. There is boats that can take us accross the lagoon which is also not expensive. Xai-Xai also offers camping, chalets and a lodge which are very reasonable with there prices. So anyone interested in a trip like this?

Dit lyk baie lekker Willie. Bilene het goeie diepsee hengel plekke ook. Zongoene is net so n' lekker plek. Die rivier mond het groot GT'S en haaie. Vir strand hengel. Kamp plek is ook goedkoop. DiepSee visvang ook nie te sleg nie.
Groete en stywe lyne

Willie, I have never had a good experience at Xai-Xai (weather and windwise) and dont really like the public (muncipal) camping ground.

I have stayed at Bilene, but it was when it was closed to the sea and those days the lagoon water was putrid. Dont think Bilene is much of a R&S fishing location.

But if we can/are prepared to travel up to Xai-Xai (which isnt really so far!) we can just as well carry on a short distance further to Chidinguele which I believe is very good R&S fishing.

Perhaps someone with experience and knowledge can enlighten us.

I would also be interested.

Toppie that also sound good. I was just thinking that if we leave Nelspruit early we can be at Xai-Xai in midday. How much more traveling time would you recon?

Chidenguele.

Got this info of the net.

They have chalets no camping.

Fishing is great and many fishermen (rock,          surf, fly, fishing   ski or deep-sea) have met their match in the unexploited waters of   Paraiso de Chidenguele - this is KINGFISH COUNTRY! Word is that   "monsters" lurk here - "smashed up" is often the name of the game! Bring         your own preferred bait although local bait (sealice, crabs,   sillago, garfish, cuttlefish, livebait) may be obtained in the area.   Common shore         catches include kingfish, queenfish, pompano, rock   cod, stumpnose, lemonfish, speckled snapper, blacktail, shark,   guitarfish and stingray. Couta (king mackerel) and barracuda are also   been taken from the shore.

  • Surf fishermen have endless expanses of beach       offering both blue and white water on sand or rock
  • Rock fishing offers kilometres of gullies, deep channels, or white   water. At spring low tide, the offshore reef can be reached on foot   offering access to clear, deep water - excellent for spinning or lures
  • Fly fishers can choose their spot from the beach or rock - large,   deep pools exposed during low tide hold an array of feisty adversaries!
  • Fishing skis unmatched at Paraiso de Chidenguele ... enough said!
  • Ski boaters have access to a surf launch site and can look forward to excellent gamefish catches

That can be arranged. I think a colt 4x4 should make it.   :fshn:

Thank we can share all travelling cost which should not be to much. Also if we stay in the chalets than it will only be our fishing equipment that needs to go with. What about 6 June Wednesday till the Sunday?

Chidenguele is a better option & offers both R&S & off shore altough I have heard the launch can be hairy.

To get to Zongoene you must travel a hard sand road which is in bad shape all the time. 35km took my brother nearly 2hrs todo towing a 5m duck & the mozzies will eat you alive unless you sleep on the beach and the wind is blowing.
