QUICK RIG - for Feathers, Kona’s and Skirted Lures
« on: November 14, 2011, 09:11:05 PM »
This is a very quick and  simple rig to make, and yet very effective. What I like about this rig is that  even on the boat you can whip it together in no time, and even better yet, it  is very cheap to make and so ideal for those fishing on a tight budget. It  offer rigidity, and the twisted double line also offer high abrasion resistance  where it counts most.
This rig will work from your  small lures with light leader’s right through to the heavy stuff; it swims true  and allows your lure to swim well.

1. Materials:
- Your leader material (I  have used 300lb mono for the tutorial)
- Your hook (I have used an  8/0 Tuna Bend)
- 1 Aluminium or copper crimp  to suit your leader

2. Cut your leader to length,  wrap it nicely and leave some loose to work with; then slide your crimp on.

3. Leaving enough length to  do your twist, feed your leader through the bottom of the hook eye wrap around  the hook shank and then feed the leader through the top of the hook eye.

    4. Cut the tag end to the  required length and slide the crimp over both lines, remember that the crimp  will stop against your lure head once completed.

5. Using a lighter, burn your  tag end to form a small mushroom head that will stop the crimp from sliding  past.

6. Pull you crimp up against  the hook eye and pull the wraps tight.

    7. Holding the main line  tight start twisting the crimp around it causing the tag end to twist around the  main line whilst moving the crimp slowly toward the end of the tag line.

8. Once you reach the end of  your hold tight and crimp ensuring the mushroom head is nicely against the  crimp.

9.  Your finished twisted Quick Rig, ready to be  attached to your lure.
