:rck" Good news thanks L Hooker +cred.  Did the route in Easter and it was a nightmare.
Finally the road is almost complete, it used to be a nightmare... Searaider did you go to Ponta? If so how is the road before the Kosi border coming from Jozini? Have they fixed it yet?
Cool thanks Searaider

I did go to Moz,they have fixed one of the roads which I remember was the worst but the rest is fairly potholed but the you can still do good time. You speed up for a few hundred metres then you have to slow down again.

I have just spoken to Hannelie Kruger from SANRAL who is resposible for the maintenance on the Piet Retief Pongola section. She adviced that we will encounter a total of 5 stop and go from Ermelo to Pongola which will keep you for a maximum of 10 Minutes each. The road surface condition is good with no pot holes and only one section between Piet Retief and Pongola the speed limit is reduced to 80 Kph. She also said that the stop and go's will not be bad travelling at night as they are not working on the road in night times. She also recommend that we take this route as some of the smaller routes are in a very bad state for example the Amsterdam - Piet Retief route is not driveable. If anybody needs more information you can contact Gonie Govender at 0844662198 who is in charge of the maintenance on the Ermelo Piet Retief section and Hannelie Kruger 0823805264 who is in charge of the Piet Retief Pongola section.

Yebo but also take into account that the N3 is much safer traveling during night no stray animals and taxi's.
