Thanks LA,
The Nanofil is excellent all round, casting, sensitivity and knot tying.
I only have it on my one reel so when I switch rods I notice my casting distance is less immediately. I end up recasting to get my lure where I want it and that is using Gator 20lb which is 0,1mm slightly thinner than the average thickness of the Nanofil 8lb,which is 0,154mm according to Berkley. This I attribute to the fact it does not absorb water like my braid does.
As far as the sensitivity goes its in a class of its own. My bait will still be sinking and my line is slack to allow my bait to drop vertically where it lands,if it gets knocked I feel it. Yes with my braid I feel it as well but not so distinctly.
I tie an Albright to join leader to my Nanofil. I don't use the double Albright as Berkley suggest as I don't have 4 pairs of hands to tie this knot especially not in the wind on a moving inflatable.
11 turns down and 8 turns up,opposite direction out the leader loop. Two half hitches,ok now this is difficult to explain, start a half hitch, the loop you make when you enter your tag end into the half hitch loop put it through twice. Then pull that down onto your two half hitches, make sure it right down and pulled tight. I think but don't quote me,they call that a double granny knot.
At this point light a smoke, cut your tags off and melt the Nano back till as close to your knot as you can, while still hot just squash the melted part against knot almost fusing it. I know this sounds Hill Billish but it works.
That knot is yet to fail me,as far as I know Barry Wareham ties the same leader knot according to my local tackle shop owner and friend of course minus the smoke part.
I hope you understand the last part of that knot. Anyway Nanofil is worth it just a pity it is so expensive.
