I've been a bit of a no show in the comp lately. Going bass fishing again this weekend, hopefully I can add to my tally. Just hope the  :rain: gives me a gap.

WalkersKiller,

I sincerely apologise for my outburst and tantrums on this thread.

I was trying to show, via the competition that f/f can be as , if not more productive in terms of fish caught per session than the other classes.

I am by no means a f/f "snob" and have been seen by many to throw a bait line. As you well know the thrill of catching a fish on a flyrod, with a self tied fly is the business.

Good luck with the competition, and I hope thecatch reports keep coming in.

Keep an eye on the  flyfishing thread, I'm  hitting J Bay this weekend. :fshn:

Fly  rod and drop shot rig will be packed. w;k
If we caught fish on every trip, it would be called " Catching". We don't, and that's why it's called "Fishing".

Hi guys... long time, no post... Beem busy at work!  :cnfzd

This past weekend we had our clubcomp at Jackie Leonard at the Vaaldam. The guys caught a lot of muddies (up to 14 in addition to other species). I myself wasn't in the mood to do tempo angling and decided to rather target bigger fish(carp). In total during the comp I caught 5 fish. 1 x grasscarp, 2 x carp and 2 X muddies. At the weigh-in I realised I was way behind the rest as the guys nailed the smaller fish.

After the comp a few of us decided to stay over for the night until the sunday. As I arrived back to rods, I realised there was a fish on both. Reeled in two nice carp, one of which weighed 3.5kg, and rebaited. We had a great night at the water and I slept like a baby in my tent as n light rain descended at around 01:00am.

In total I caught the following fish:
1 x grasscarp 1.75kg
8 x carp ranging from 1.5kg to 3.5kg
2 x muddies weighing approx. 0.370kg each

All in all a good finish to the year's club angling. Now its just social angling. Unfortunately I didn;t take any pics, but I had my peg mate with me as usual.

That would be absolutely AWESOME.  (clap)

Neither my f/f skills or kit could ever give credit to a Marlin on fly. never mind conventional tackle.

I hope you can pull it off. I'm sure it could be a world first. :resp: :resp:

My trip to the Fouriesburg allowed me to fish a new dam
At Duncan Long's Dairy Farm. Its actually three dams, the large
Dam runs into the smaller middle dam and that in turn runs off
Into the smallest dam. I fished the middle dam as I did not
Take my inflatable with to fish the Large dam so that leaves
Me a dam to fish NEXT time!!!

Points: 33 x 50 = 1650
