Your favourite angling destination?
« on: August 30, 2011, 03:30:07 PM »
I thought it would be interesting to hear everyones favourite angling destinations and why.

For me it has to be Mazeppa Bay. You are so removed from society yet it is not like many other wild coast destinations where safety is an issue. The fact that every night talk in the dining room of the hotel is about who caught what and plans for the next day just adds to it. The fishing here is also probably some of the best in the country with spots for every condition. I have not fished too many spots around the country but Mazeppa will take some beating.
What is your favourite spot?

I prefer Plett to Natures valley. You get some decent deepwater point and good places to scratch. and you can leave your wife on the beach. Only drawback is the walk to robberg point.

My favourite place to fish is Kenton on sea because I have learned so much about the area over the years I know when I will catch fish, what fish I might catch on what baits work best when its awesome to have that knowledge... But my favourite fishing spot is Bats Cave, which is in Kenton. I have caught 15 species here...

I enjoy Rocky Bay. The caravan park is right on the beach at high tide at can catch from the stoep of the caravan. :hehe: Also know which areas to fish. It is a safe area which can produce some good fish. Oh! and nearly forgot Tommo is around the corner if you need him for help :hehe:

I would say that it has to be St.Maarten Dutch/Netherlands Antailles, and then of course in SA Strand/G-Bay reefs and MACS. :happ:

Has to be the Breede river. Mainly because I fished it every year for about 25 years when my folks had the holiday house in witsand. Went back for the first time in many years last year december, was great to see that nothing has changed over the years, loved getting fresh bread from nella's winkel every day.

The Nature's Valley,  Plett, Knysna, Sedgefield, Swartvlei  area of the Garden Route. Mainly the estuaries/lagoons. We always catch with success - except Garrick   swr

De Mond. Struisbaai, Knysna Lagoon and Jongensfontein. I am still getting to know Robberg and I am looking forward to fish there again this Summer.
