You guys can actually get away with it because as long as you show them your SAMSSA seaworthy they usually accept it... On our case, if you don't have all that stuff... there's a long story to get your boat certified!!!!

I don't take all that stuff with me when I go out but I can GUARANTEE I hav all that stuff or my 5.5 m rubberduck! How insane is that?????

Talking about legislation that is > 50 years old!!!!!! idt

re radio it's either 29mhz or VHF...so I guess you will be ok with the 29mhz...although as Marcos mentioned nobody uses 29mhz in Moz...
re ring bouy if you pass by Maputo you can borrow one from me...I have 2
where about are you going...I can extract from mapsource charts (image only) for the area you will be exploring

You can buy the local charts (on paper) at the maritime office... cheap....

You will pass the inspection with 29 Mhz but no one uses it in Maputo... so get yourself a hand held VHF and you are sorted!

I'll email you later on with options and ramblings about either destination....

Thanks Peterblace i would appreciate it. Well in terms of where we going we are still trying to decide if we should go to Ponta my usual place or take a leap of faith, patience etc and go through to Inhaca "Carlos Camp". I'm just not sure if the hassle. extra fuel to be used, additonal safety equipment needed etc is worth the extra effort? Is fishing off Inhaca better than Ponta? I have never been to Inhaca so we are in unchartered waters :dunno:

Am I correct in stating that that is every boat up to 10m? How would I fit all of that into a 4.2m ducky?  Man alive I'm gonna have to buy a extra dingy to tow behind my boat just for the safety equipment. Hopefully they don't give me to many hassles with my Cat E seaworthy.
Trouble is just fun you got caught having

Marcos, has there been any changes to these requirements yet or are they still expecting us to carry all this stuff?
The ring bouy and the spare anchor and rope is what gets to me especially when anchoring anywhere is out.

It looks to be around the 28th September to 1st October.. One of the managers in my company wants to take about 12 of his guys to Inhaca for a "bosberaad" so he has asked me to organize some of the logistics.
So far the plan is that they will fly to Maputo and I have arranged for Conrad to haul them over to the island in his 52 ft Hataras sport fisher (which is docked at Clube Nautica). I will follow in my boat and I can go fishing whilst they have a few meetings and also ferry them between Conrad's boat and Manico.
There's no need for me to be at the meetings, so while they work the boss can play :clwn
Maybe it's a chance for you and Pedro to give your boats a bit of a run to clear the cobwebs out.
