Only saw this now. Great post!

This brings back fond memories. My Dad and I used to fish Witsand a few times every year for 20+ years and I was the bloodworm collector.

What we used to do was pump at a slight angle, from the crater like hole in the direction of the blow hole. Don't know if this made any difference but it worked.

Those bloodworms work like nothing else in the estuaries, i caught all my 100lb kob on bloodworm.

I was on the West Coast recently and an "old hand" at fishing told me that moonshine worm can also be collected in stony areas. They lift small rock, about football size, and tap the area around the indentation left by the stone with their feet. He said that the worms will then congregate in the indentation. I have not tried it but he said one can pick up the worms by the hand-full.  :dunno:
They get the most worms in Blue Water Bay in near Saldanha.
Apparently moonshine worms need to be salted to make them tougher and more durable??

for your razor clam, we used to collect them in the UK using ordinary table salt stl. I never ate them but they were an excellent bait
How to catch and cook razorfish! Disgusting!!

when I die, may my wife not sell my fishing tackle for what I told her I paid for it... and I have bought more, a severe case of TA
