On the road at 10:00.

Roads are crap. Roadworks everywhere. Must have stopped about 20 times so far, travelinf 300 km.

Cheers

went uo to vidal to fish the turn of the low tide.
Slid a mackie out behind the back line on 0.40mm line.
Got a pick up but got burnt off quickly.

Took out the 400/5 and slid out a whole tjokka.
Not long and got a pull. Fish looked like a ray or duckbill.
Got the fish over onto the rocks, big wave and he was back in the water. He later reefed me.
Not to worry as i dont hunt them.
Weather good.

Just came from the swimming beach.
Tjokka and sealice, no takers except sea grass.

Reefer

19 march went up to vidal.
sea was big and washing machine, did not even make a cast.
sat and enjoyed some of natures offerings.
the guys were still getting good cuda catches. like Jean stated, rat cuda, not big, but plenty.

went back to st lucia and tried getting mullet with the cast net.

the tide was too far in, and i managed to get no mullet but 5 small yellow tail kingies of 15 cm long.
put them back to go grow some bit.

later i did get some tread fin, kept 4.
casted 2 out just left of the mouth and waited.............................. nothing, not a touch.

when the tide went out, i packed up. started plugging back to the car park.

i saw one little fish jumping for it's life.
plugged the whole area, nothiong.
changed to a spoon............... nothing

till dark set in, nothing.

20 march

went up to mission rocks with mackkies
perriers was closed, so walked back to about 250 right of entrance to missions.
guys from umvoti angling club was also fishing.
some black tail and rock cod were cought by them.

the mackie was untouched for 5 hours.

a angler did loose a kingie on the rocks the previous day.

went back to st lucia and decided to call it a trip.

by my own statndards, this was my worst trip ever.
but still there is lots of positives to be taken from it.

i left my cell phone charger at home, so screwed.
the aluminium pension pipes did bend and to back up pipes were taken.
not one of the 4 days, did i get up early, only at the water at 07:30 to 08:00.
seems like i just chilled.
did not take the beach cart, so no traveling.

i did however manage to improve my casting.
previously, i casted deep enough, but when i was busy plugging, did i experiment with leaving the spool earlier.

that improved the casting to about 20 meters.
also tried it with the sinkers and it too went in deeper.

next time, i''ll take the meter to see what distance i now attain with the set-up i have.

Action man;

what i saw up at the swimming beech is that it is a flat beech.
some holes are starting to form, but if the ne winds prevail, then they will not form further.
at the mouth, the umfolozi is mouthing out in a northernly direction, runnel with the beech and the slowly going into the sea.
(so, not a straight channel going out to sea)

there is obviously a hole to the left of the mouth, if you wanna call it a hole.
the ski boaters are launching there.

colour

with the ne wind the colour is blue on low tides brownish water comes out the mouth, but on high tide, it all clears up.

water is great, should have made more of an effort, next time.
