hi guys,im new to the site,realy good stuff.im having a problem making knots with the steel cable that i have.its 400lb indsustrial steel.want to make up some swim bait traces,can someone please point me in the correct direction.a tutorial will be great.thanks once again guys

With 400lb Steel, it's going to be difficult to do any sort of wraps... unless you've got vice fingers to do the Flemish eye with wraps, which would be the first choice knot.
Alternative to this would be a Fig 8, and the easiest on the fingers would be the Flemish eye with a crimp.

I know this is an old topic but in that steel i think you are best off with a flemish eye and twist it is the way i was shown by the SC guys and it is strong,neat and easy! alot of people dont like to crimp and dont trust crimps but if the can catch marlin on it with 500hp on the back and a 500kg marlin on the otherside i think crimps are plenty strong enough..
