First Dorado for the Durban Season
« on: October 30, 2010, 08:26:22 AM »
This was one of the few days when a client asks you to stop fishing because you are catching too many fish and he has no more energy to fight them.

The sea was gorgeous and flat, the water was blue and crystal clear, so clear that we could see our lures running 30m back and 3m down, the water temperature was 23.8 deg. C, there was a light SW wind which later changed to a light NE. Perfect conditions for a comfortable day out at sea.

We headed out to the deep and at 150m depth started fishing on some of my older marks that I have not used for some time and this is where everything went mad and reels were screaming, rods bending sometimes multiple hook ups and it just did not stop, every few minutes another reel was screaming and we had a fish on.

The first Dorado (Mahi Mahi) for the Durban season was on deck, and we had another, both were nice sized Bulls, and we lost another one, the Yellowfin Tuna were going berserk and would not leave us alone and we even managed some Kawakawa and a bunch of Tropical Yellow Tails.

We only fished for around 4 hrs and with travel time were out at sea for 5.5hrs but our fish catch for the day was something else with 4 species on deck and a total of 37 fish.
-   2 Dorado (Mahi Mahi)
-   24 Yellowfin Tuna
-   4 Kawakawa
-   7 Tropical Yellow Tails

What a day, the one we dream about, I am also extremely pleased to have got the 1st Dorado.

FA, if you don't want those pesky fish anymore, send them over to CPT. Bad winds over the last 5 days have driven all fish away. Nothing big has come out the last week. So feel free to send them here & I will catch them. :hehe: :hehe: :hehe:
