Vidal since Monday
« on: October 20, 2010, 05:50:18 PM »
My old man is at Vidal and I just spoke to him. Monday they went out early early and stayed till about 2pm. They didn't even get a strike.
They were drift fishing couta style over the usual 18m - 28 meter vidal reefs.

My dad says our normal reefs at shallow oscar and vegetation are all sanded up.

Yesterday wind was pumping so now launch.

Today they went deep and got 2 wahoo in the 12kg class and 3 dorries in the 6-8kg class. They were in 800m water. They also saw 2 marlin out there but they weren't too interested in the smaller lures.

The bay is sanded up badly and they are struggling with the launch but managing.

They are in the chalets and he says it's the worst he has seen Vidal in our 30 years of visiting it.

Will keep you updated they are there till Friday

Thanks for the update Jaen...

By worst he's seen it, what does he mean... poor condition of the facilities, or poor launching in the bay?

The bay has been worse...it's busy clearing. Like I said he was able to launch and they are only 2 crew. last week it was not launch able.

He said the facilities, the infrastructure. Even the Chalet were supposed to be renovated. But he says he can't see that and it looks bad.

I'm gonna ask him to take some pics with his cell and mms me.

It's sad to say the least.

But Vidal has been bought out by a consortium of fatcats, including Valli Moosa, who are going to develop it anyway... so it might be min dae for us... at least thats what I know...

ja, you know that story has been around for the last 8 years.

All I know is that Vidal has such great potential, but it is being run down. Still my favorite place in the world

it can only improve in the next few days, the winds are sorting it now, for the guys fishing from the beach, no worries, as it being sanded up wont make too much of a stress, will be fine.
Spearo's choose their supper
