Doha, Qatar
« on: November 28, 2017, 06:53:05 PM »
Hey guys, so Aimee and I have been lucky enough to get a free trip to Qatar next year April due to her mom being head hunted as a unit manager for a hospital at Sidra and her paying for us  :happ:  :happ:

I would like to know a bit more about the fishing in Doha. Can anyone tell me anything at all?

Would love to fish off the bricks with some big lures. And maybe go offshore if it isn’t too expensive.

Any info, pricing and tackle suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sweet
WK  :ult:

Never fished there but must be similar to Dubai, expect lots of Oueenfish, small couta and dorado in deeper waters......you will also get milkfish there :hnthnt:
Looks very tidal with nice mudflats?? Hire a boat??
Just Fish!!!

no idea on fishing...I was there last year end of March...if you are keen on bikes (I'm not but enjoyed a lot) check the dates for the motoGP race which is the start of the season...it's an awesome experience

we did wonder trough the marinas...spotted some fishing shops and charter operators
didn't see anything from the bricks...only offshore spinning...and plenty trolling with some kind of spoons (ya...you have it right...spoons)

9/10' Light spinning rod, 20lb braid and a 4000 size reel. 20/30lb fluoro. Heavy onde type lures for the queenies, small bucktails for the breamfish things.
Not much around Doha itself, charters expensive to catch some small dorries. Drive south to Sealine Beach resort (seriously) for small stuff off the beach.
Drive north and fish Al Mafjar spit for queenies - evening on a pushing tide. Sometimes you'll get couta but April may be a bit early.

Due to the embargo, Qatar have some great specials to Muscat and Salalah - seeing as you are almost there, why not consider a couple of days add on?

Trolling with spoons... Thats interesting.

@travelmember thanks, unfortunately dont have the leave or bucks for an extended trip, but thanks for the advice will check it out. I would love to get some fish, no matter what.

Was thinking fly and lure only?
