Another Kingfish species ticked off
« on: January 11, 2017, 01:09:14 PM »
On our recent visit to Santa Maria. I caught a kingfish and as per norm on most days while I'm on holiday, I had no phone on me to take a pic.

Its the most beautiful of the kingfish I've caught and it had me stumped until I went onto google images. My initial thought was correct as a Golden king Fish but I was not sure as it had super bright Golden/yellow colouration and black bands. So after checking the pics its shows that the juveniles are much brighter than the bigger ones.

Pretty much just the bludger and Indian mirror eluding me now

Not sure if you saw how its mouth extends outwards and downwards like a suction pump. Recon sandlice would be a good bait!

Lekker bud. I saw one caught off Linene about 6 years ago. They are incredibly beautiful. I want one  :-)
Forgive me Father for I have spinned... It's been three weeks since my last cob session.

Thanks guys.

Strangely enough they would not eat a tiny spoon, jigs and drop shot. Went down with the sabiki and vas  :rotfl
