WK in the EC 2016/2017 - Ongoing Report
« on: December 17, 2016, 09:19:46 pm »
Whats up guys and gals.

I am in Kenton on sea (As usual for this time of year) at my parents spot. Might be the last time as it is on the market, which really upsets me, I have basically grown up here, and caught 75% of the my 100 odd species here... I love this place so it is a bit heartbreaking, so going to fish extremely hard... Rock and surf, light tackle gully fishing, micro fishing, dropshot, hard plastics, kayak and fly...

We arrived at 7ish yesterday morning, long drive with lots of traffic between Joburh and Bloem...

Spent most of the day yesterday unpacking and having a few beers haha...

Sorted out my tackle today, and went for a 2 hour throw for some Kob where I was advised by a local that they had been getting a few last week. Too many boats!!!! Everyone seemed to be on the river today.

I have another source who has told me there are some in the Kasouga river (No advice on where or on what lol), but I have decent knowledge of the river so I think they are in one of the 2/3 holes close to the bridge, they have to. So I am launching the ski tomorrow early in the morning, going to troll a paddle tail (Dean Pretorius style) and paddle up to the bridge with some lures and see what happens...

Anyway, here is the neatest image of my tackle ever, besides bait boxes and bags etc.

Will keep you chaps in the loop daily as I am working at the same time...

Hope everyone is well  :-)

paddling? keep reporting bud.
i also see you had a few beers while packing your gear, obviously from left to right and the last reel has the handle on the opposite side, dont let this get you confused when casting (missing handle), enjoy your stay and ditch the for sale sign

So today, I paddled 6kms in the Kasouga river, trolled every part of it and anchored at the bridge, where there is a nice hole and I am sure the Leeries and Kob are there...

Had a number of hits on the 2 inch paddle tail (McCarthy mullet colour) and then I had a on off on the 5 inch chartreuse McCarthy minnow. Was very bleak, felt like a decent fish...

So thats my story for today... East has been pumping the whole day (30 - 35 km/h), and the water doesnt look great for the surf tomorrow so looks like I will go and get some micro fishing in hehe, at least get on the board.

Hope you are all having a great day!

PS

Managed to make a 9 minute simple trace tying video after a few R & R's earlier  :hyst: :hyst: have to post it.

Yip i am surely not starting a competition.
By the end of the holiday you would have done much more than me.

I was disappointed though.

So there is tons of blacktail here they say, now I must just land one.

Hope you have some success WK... Feel for you with the house on the market. We had to deal with that in 2013 when we sold our place at Kleinemonde. It was heart braking after 40 odd years of our own little heaven, but the costs of keeping it had become onerous.

Tight lines bro  :fshn: ... and the odd
Forgive me Father for I have spinned... It's been three weeks since my last cob session.

Thnks bro, that is terrible news... My father is in poor health and medical and living expenses are out the roof, so it is an unfortunate reality. But you have to look at the positives, I can spend a good 3 weeks here to enjoy it if this is the last time  :-)
