Hi UA - Just want to know what is the purpose of these swivels - Is it the same as an ordinary 3 way swivel ?

We mainly use these swivels for offshore bottom fishing, will also work for rock n surf, unlike the standard three way, the hook snoot will spin in circles with the current / waves and not twist and tangle the whole trace. Where the two swivels join must me tied on top, so if it ever does slip it gets snagged on the remaining body of the lead swivel.

Used the a lot for rock and surf, very lekker, a bit pricey though, the top one is called a crane swivel if I am not mistaken...

Yip, seems to work quite well, have tried it up to 6 ounce sinker before and there are very few tangles...

hR correct, they not expensive if you make your own

Buy the standard swivels, squash one ring closed, fit the other swivel over the first, push one part of the long nose through the squashed one and work it open to its original shape, easy 123

R correct, they not expensive if you make your own :
Buy the standard swivels, squash one ring closed, fit the other swivel over the first, push one part of the long nose through the squashed one and work it open to its original shape, easy 123

Thanks for the tip, but won't this damage the swivel, if you squash the ring and open it again?

I think Big boy meant that the reopened smashed ring won't be used, it will only be used to keep the other swivel in place.

I prefer my mainline and hooksnoot in a strait line when i fight a fish. i don't think the swinging swivel will take the same pressure as the main swivel. and if you clip your bait the sinker line stands nicely out of the way if attached to the swinging swivel just my 2c

I've heard someone refer to an "NT" swivel a while ago. is this the same thing or something different?

I like these swivels too.
They seem very small thought .
My prefrance , will always be a sliding rig With 2 swivels .

Anyone ,also @ have had dodgy swivels breaking ?
I have food reason for only using King fisher swivels .
The normal 3 way of swivels are strong .

Personally not a fan of normal 3 ways. The line twists more in my opinion.
I use a bigger normal jap barrel swivel
One eye of the swivel gets leader line knot, and the sinker knot.
this makes the barrel stand 90 degrees out, fasten trace to the other end of barrel.
The trace stands out very nicely from the sinker and leader. Works best with a sinker line shorter than the trace, however i also use the same trace setup with a sinker longer than trace for kob if you want to clip the bait.
