The Competition concluded with Prize giving on the Sunday afternoon and the only Marlin in the compi got Marco Polo first prize...the weather for the coming week was looking fantastic!! typical!! Many of the guys stuck around for the Sunday and the prized giving... well done guys and despite the trying conditions the bonanza of YFT's made it great fun!

Special thanks to all the organisers - Paul, Marinda and too many others to mention for the GREAT meals and excellent event!

Monday the 22nd Looked great but I had commited to some other activities so did not put the boat in the water and planned to put the boat back into storage on Tuesday but as the weather was again all time we headed out to the Groot Sandkop and again the YFT's were all over interspersed with bonito. We had plenty of fun and with light tackle this time, the guys were very busy. We also had a encounter with some Orcas and found some flotsome with some small dorries. We only boated 3 fish and the rest went back to grow some more.

We were back just after lunch with sore arms and big smiles.

(clap) Awesome report Tony. It is a pity about the Marlin not eating and the poor weather but at least you got your fill on the YFT. Congrats to Liam on the Wahoo.  :win:

Awesome photos, you have captured the magic of Struisbaai's comercial fisherman as I first saw them more than 40 years ago.

After 7 months without wetting a line in any way shape or form, I was invited by miles to run for tuna yesterday. A long hard dsy on the sea for not a great return. Sea was not too bad, nice colour but the temp was sitting at 17.6 all dsy. Fishing was slow. We managed 4 yellowfin. 3 in the 40kg class and one of about 70 and 2 longfin. All the boats battled with one fish here, one there. Great to get some salt air through the gills again. Hopefully next time the fish will play ball.

They have posted a vidoe on the Suidpunt Diepsee Hengelklub facebook page. It looks like they got it on Yellowtail tackle.  :shk

Gof is a hard angler .

The weather man , has me confused . Tail bonanza called off for today , but it's one for tomorrow .

But here's the thing.  Seem like a seaday to me .

Temp up. This side 20 to 22 degrees .

We had the storm on Thursday night fri morn . Hectic hectic. Thunder and 70 ml of rain in two hours .

Buggered my plans for an heavy operation .

Mate of mine was the angler on that stripey. He was chasing the 6kg record and this fish was it - estimated at 70kg. Serious skills!
He was intending to take the fish but they popped it off with the leader in hand and his comment "this fish was Tony Doult's and carries his spirit and memory."
