So about 2 months back the name Letsibogo was blurted out amongst mates and after a few phone calls and email enquiries a date was set and the planning started.
We would be a group of 4 and not one of us with much bass fishing experience behind us other than just messing about on the banks of our local dams trying to get our kids onto some fish.
Never the less we were pretty excited and the TA took over with many a trip to our friend Luki and Sollys Booysens to stock up on some new line, crank baits, soft plastics etc etc and 1 or extra new outfits

Thursday the 1st we were up before the sparrows and made our way to Botswana to still try get in half a days session on the water at the famous Letsibogo.
We got in to Selebi Pikwe stocked up on some important groceries

carried on towards our accommodation which was a mission to find as we could not get hold of our hosts to help us with directions (signage is non existent) and ended up costing us 600 Pula in a speeding fine as we rushed around trying to find this place so we could get on the water soonest.
Eventually we got hold of Gordon from the boat hire and he was kind enough to meet us show us to De Rust and then onwards the launch site at Letsibogo. This we definitely would of never found without his assistance.
Finally at 2pm we made it onto the water and the endless casting started for a quick 2-4 hour session. We worked the trees from the launch site all the way pretty much to the rock islands to the left of the launch site with no success from the 2 boats. Eventually at the islands we got our first fish on a crank and my mate Nuno landed his personal best a nice 3kg bass. I managed a little guy on top water before the wind got up heavily and chased us off the water.
On the way in we tried taking a short cut which was a bad idea as the weeds caught us off guard and forced us to beach 1km before the launch side

.
On loading up the Ford was parked a little to close to the bank and it was a little damp and only being a 4x2 we got into a spot of bother. We asked some locals in there Toureg to help us out and we made our way back to camp to prep for day 2 whilst enjoying a braai and some local brew.
