Bass Fishing in Zimbabwe, the report
« on: September 27, 2010, 04:56:04 PM »
I went fishing again in the Private Nature Conservancy in Zimbabwe where we were last year when we caught some nice bass of 6,8 and 6,2 kgs.
This time the family went along.

Camping in Zim is probably not the best way to go but as we stayed in a conservancy we felt rather safe except for the elephants, leopard and hyenas who frequent the dam we camped at.
We came across a large male leopard one morning not far from camp and heard the hyenas one night. One afternoon late a whole heard of Impala came rushing through our camp , obviously something gave them a bit of a skrik. The woman , who were having sundowners at the time in the camp was also a bit stirred as we were still on the boat.
The place has absolutely no fascilities so the 4x4 trailers worked well with every creature comfort including hot water showers etc. The wife and kids enjoyed themselves tremendously.

We caught some nice fish with 4 people in our party of 6 getting their PB's.

My first fish was a fish of about 3kgs

How is this for a dam with nice structure?
On our boat ,Michiel, myself and my 2 kids we caught between 110 -130 fish for the day all averaging between 1,5 and 3 kgs, I kid you not! Bear in mind that I also spend about 30% of my fishing time on sorting out the kid's tangles and hooked onto trees(lots of trees!) etc . We couldve caught way more but thats not what it was about...My kids( and I) had blast . Good to spent such quality time together   :sml:
