Shouldn't there at least be a small float close to the hook?

Is there a specific reason why you tie both your traces to the same (bottom) eye of the swivel? I normally tie my hook trace to the same (top) eye as my main line.

For Kob I would put a float inside the bait. For the rest no float at all.
@SAFish I guess the only reason is to stop your mainline from twisting due to wave movements of the bait. I don't think it will make a big difference on which eye you tie your bait unless you have a bad swivel.

I guess I just put my foot in it. I spoke some other anglers and they don't agree with me.

Hi
Which would be the correct way to tie your trace to a two  way swivel ?

I had a chat to my Dad about this and he says he always tie his hook trace to the bottom eye and the sinker + mainline to the top eye. He said the wash of the waves and current will twist up your hook line and to tie it to the bottom eye will reduce the tangles.

So many have there own way on reasoning which trace would be the right one , which hook knot / trace here and this there.

So I'm throwing in my trace that I use for surf fishing , yet also works with Gully , Cliffs ect fishing ...

What works for you , to get the fish on shore , still works the best ...

So many technical issues these days , so I'm adding mine ... It's called the "Pulley" ...

Tight Lines !!!

Some variations to the pulley rig ... Hope this gives a bit of clarity for any confusion ...

My 2cents. For Steenbras at Henties no more than 0.4 hook trace 15cm max and no more than 2/O x4 hook.

I have been using a pulley rig for a while , an love it . but , its just expensive on swivels . I see in your pics you dont use  the swivel on your 'sinkers side ' . Or is it just a diagram ?  I have been using Spiltrings and a bead instead of a swivel ...
