You didn't miss much!

I was out between 7 am and 11am on Sunday  - only caught  a few small fish - and not much success by any of the other anglers I spoke to - there were many hand signs from passing boats indicating "no fish" or "small fish"

Bay has not been fishing too well these days - roll on summer!

The last time I was in the bay was Sat 25th November, I saw one Garrick come out, also saw a guy on a kayak bagging undersize grunter. I got two small grunter on the banks, bartails,  seabream at the coal terminal and plenty undersized shad which were such a pest, your cracker is still on it's way down and shad is on :unhap

I will be on the bay this weekend again.

Thanx for the replies,i have just started fishing the bay.I actually do a lot of bass fishing.I have a couple of poppers which i know should work in the bay and i hear that cracker is good.I have also got a few dropshot which i reckon will work.are there any other baits that i should use other that cracker and lures? How close can one get to the coal terminal.I was given a map from the club that showes a line between pier 1 and what looks like somewhere close to the terminal that one can not cross?

50 metres from any vessel moored or 50m from the structure, 70 metres from a crane. From the yellow buoy at the terminal draw an imaginary line across to the point of pier1, that is no entry zone.

You can also use sardines, prawn, chokka and various live bait.

Also make sure you adhere to the rules on anchoring in the bay, I sometimes see people anchored in places they are not allowed to, whether by default or not, the authorities do apply the law.

Yes, you may only anchor out of the channels. Are you referring to the bank opposite wilsons wharf?

That is the channel that runs up to Fynnlands Angling Club and Bluff Yacht Club, a lot of fishing gets done in this area.

Thanx for all the help,it was nice to see you on the water on Sunday.I had a few follows on a spoon at the coal terminal, they looked long and thin so probably pickhandle or gar.Cought two monster nasty eels at the spot you found me at,after you left we landed a nice grunter on sard nogal and so many small shad it got boaring.
All in all it was a nice first day in the harbour and i am sure the future holds something nice.
