They have been hit hard by it, because 50% of their clientele used to come there from Zim, the thing is the problem is only at Save and doesnt effect them at all, except by stopping their Zim clients from driving. They reckon it will last long past the elections, but is fairly localised. There are talks currently being made to make peace but they (At the lodge) arent too confident in a positive outcome. Also spoke to another lodge next door to Lula's and they share the same thoughts.

Its not dangerous in any way where they are, and the general public only get affected when they are accompanied by police or other higher up forces.

those are also my thoughts...
Kulos and Inhassoro tourism is highly affected as their major clientele's come from Zim...even the paradise spots of Baz and even Pemba are affected as abroad tourists (mainly US & Europe) are not reccomended to travel to a country where there's a "war" situation...that said by a 5* hotel chain CFO
from what I've read on both Moztravel and Vilankulos Grapevine and some other pages on FB there have been daily attacks on the road Save-Muxungue...as you mention mainly on the military/police cars
from the media there's nothing wrong up north...you don't hear/read a thing on TV/newspaper

sorry for the hijack...but just wanted to hear from someone that went all the way to the "border" of this country "political" crisis

No worries, it is interesting to hear from people in the know, like yourself, about such topics. Its just sad how it is affecting local tourism.
