It was actually quite strange how I only got baby doggies on the jig, then I throw a 5 inch mcarthy hot orange jerk shad and hook into what I thought was another GT about to cut me off on the reef. But after seeing a bit of silver on my spool and chasing the fish with the boat for about an hour I finally landed it. It weighed 12.5kg!!

Hi,Calvin.Magic Stuff!
Maybe in my next life...Maybe I'll also get lucky,Seychelles looks like heaven!

Nice catches, stuff dreams are made of,place looks addictive by just watching your clips.
I landed one of those Garfish in Isle of Wight, quite comical looking fish.

The reel you used looks like it could be a 2500 or 3000 reel?
What setup did you use, looks a good brand of rod?

The fishing itself, did you organize it through an operator?

Well Done!

It was actually a fairly inexpensive set up but could pull serious fish! The rod is a predator XR24 and the reel is a daiwa procasterX 3000 with 15lb suffix braid. The rod and reel without braid would probably set you back about R1400. The first outing on the boat was organised by the people I was staying with and I ended up making friends with the skipper who then took me out for free on a second trip.
