So what did you do with your boat today?
« on: December 21, 2013, 09:18:02 PM »
Not living at the coast, I tend to spend a bit of time fiddeling with the boat. It's almost like messing around with tackle, making traces and rigs.......theraputic when you're not on or near the big blue.
Today was no different for me. A screw driver in the back pocket to tighten any screws that had worked loose, car polish in the one hand, a raft of polishing rags and cloths over the shoulder and a tube of the chrome/ stainless polish in the other hand. Oh ja, also tidied up and repaired the tail light board. She looks so good, I think I'll head for Klipkopies dam and play with a few bass in the morning.

Had boat serviced, few tweaks and took her to Roodeplaat dam this morning to check all with view on visit to Sodwana in January. Roodeplaat is pea soup green so best to avoid for now till the algae sinks.

Was nice to bump into and see member Spickerish and friend on the dam this morning:

Fortunately the dams down here are in pretty good shape. This is from this morning on Klipkoppies dam which is just outside White River on the Hazeyview Road. It is stocked with Bass and Kirper, but I didn't give it a try this morning.

iNdlovu, Pitts Marine (Pietermaritzburg) make these now as the Elite Cat. Deck layout has been modified and made better and build quality is first class. I nearly bought one of those a while ago. If you ever want to replace now you know where to go.

Coast Cats are brilliant boats, here's Pitts Marine's version:

Thanks Toppie, the hulls are identical, apparently it is all cosmetic changes with deck layout, but from what I hear, my old version has more deck space. :dunno:

Someone told me they are based on the Yeld design.
As you may remember, I was a confirmed mono oke until a guy who was more a fanatic than I was, made me an offer for my Ace Craft which included the Coast Cat plus some cash which I couldn't refuse. So here I am amongst the split personalities, sorry I mean twin hulls. I love the stability and the space and the economy of the 60's.

Haven't done much on the boat itself today, apart from general prep for launching tomorrow. Spent a good part of the morning going through the chest freezer in the shed. Eish... lot's of old bait there... removed the encrusting ice, cleaned it, and organized what's still useful and threw away a large amount of rubbish!

Thanks for the help peterblace!
