Whats the current going rate for a Kg of Chokka . Any signs of a recovery in the industry ?

Nah mate those ohs has hammered them for too long . I doubt it will recover .

R100.00 is a good price .

On the other hand , I just want to rub slat in the wounds , I don't pay for Tjokka , We catch them when we go to sea , leaker XXL .

If I can come up to PE , I can get 100kg for Free, From a Tjokka skip mate of mine , the trouble is not getting up there , its getting them on land to actually get it .

If theres no tags on the tjokka [ a piece of paper with boat name and Tjokka size .] Its most probably stolen pans .
And there lots of that going around in PE too .

Wit aas is wit aas , Occies works just as well .

My neighbour's son stays in PE and he brought good chokka back the other day but I only found out about it afterwards.  :-( Next time he will bring me some. Years ago a friend om mine in Mossel Bay said he will sell me Sards for R1/kg but I have to take 50kg, straight off the boat. I found out the other day he is in jail, don't know what went wrong.  :hehe:

Last time I bought chokka in Mbay(nice big ones too),I think I payed R240/5kg box, must go find out the new prices soon,my chokka is finished now... if I have to pay R100/kg I'll complain and leave without it,rather cut 2 legs off a few occies and let them go again...those tenticals grow back in time again...and it's better than just killing the octopuss :clwn

If that fish is fresh and not imported with red sunken in or even missing eyes, i think the prices arent bad except perhaps the dorado.

The geelbek had to come all the way from cape town.

Marthin, I was in a hurry and did not go in to check but next time I go past I will check how fresh they are. I wonder what Yellowtail goes for in Struisbaai at the moment. Last year this time we paid R40/kg in Struis. Lenny?

i think the price on the boats dropped to R6/kg at one stage when the tail was insane.  Don't know what they are getting a kg now.

At that price , they should include a tube a KY too , to shove that tjokka , right up their behind , the shape and size will glide in easily .
